At the bottom of the rear screen, there are repairs that just aren't right. There are many like that around the car, not all visible in the pics. I could see that particular issue in the enlarged pics on ebay, took it into account, and it wasn't so far away from where I live that it wasn't worth a look. I expected to spend money on it, would have done so had the expenditure versus required result been justified, and went in with my eyes open, as I've done many times before. Lost count of the number of cars I've viewed and not bought over the years. If you buy a car for romantic reasons, you are the definition of a fool and his money...........
Well, let's see what happens........he's had 10% deposit, £200 of which is the non refundable part. I can live with the £200, that was agreed. He said he'll refund the difference. If that doesn't happen, I'll take that amiss, but I've no preconceived ideas about that, it's a wait and see. As it stands, if he manages to do this a few times, he'll be able to sell the car very cheaply based on all the deposits he's taken allowing him to do so! He looked genuinely crestfallen when I told him it was a no sale. We noticed on the drive home that it was re-listed within 20 mins of us leaving.
It's one of those, I won't dwell on it, just look for something else. I'm not really searching for anything, but things like Corolla GT Twincams, Honda CRX VTECs, Elan M100s, always get my attention in the ads. Finding good ones of any of those is a challenge these days though.
I might change my Boxster 987.1 for a Gen 2 with the less potentially troublesome engines, but if it happens it won't be through making a huge effort to do so. My Mk1 MR2 is back home this week after a 3 year break in the 'burbs, and I'm looking forward to getting it as mint as possible and using it. The Evo will remain, it's irreplaceable.
My other half has been unusually reticent about sticking the knife in over this, but there's time yet, there's a Gen 2 Boxster with 21k miles that "I've accidentally stumbled upon " on my watchlist now, so the whole saga may begin again midweek! I'm going to look on ebay to get an idea of what stab vests go for, better safe than sorry!

The agreement we had was 10% deposit on the selling price, £200 of which was non-refundable. The selling price was £3900. As far as I can see, I'm owed £190. Frankly, given the state of the car, the answers given to specific questions asked when compared to the reality, and the wasted time, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a decent seller to refund the lot.......Glad to hear it's not just me. We're in Crete on holiday at the mo, she doesn't know that I sneaked multiple items from my MR2 into a bodyshop for paint the day before we came away. Coincidentally, and possibly fortuitously, I've just been messaged to say that my Ford Connect, which had a split return pipe on top of the fuel tank has been fixed and is ready for collection when I arrive home. In the conversation with her about the van bill I'll massage it in order to assist in hiding the heinous cost I envisage the bodyshop bill to be.
