I remember when I was younger back when I had st heaps had a mate straight as fk bit older than me ,didn’t drink, smoke or take drugs, worked all the hours going in a moter factors and lived at home ,we went somewhere in Bristol to look at one of these ,I remember lying on floor and being in awe at the size of the exhaust, this was late 90,early 2000s can’t think exactly,he was really considering it talking to salesman but I don’t think the maths worked out ,remember salesman telling us that it spun the wheels in fourth at a ton ,the maths didn’t work for Peugeot mi16 either ,he later bought a 5 cylinder Audi ,the 2 door coupe type was it the 90 or 100 I’m not sure ,tbh I was only about 24 at the time he was a bit older they prob didn’t take him serious,

Sorry for the hi jack a mate of mine from childhood days has a 24v senetor,on my stag at Benidorm we were talking cars ,asking how it went,he told me he was trying it out and something went bang at jail territory it was a wheel arch liner detaching ,he then went on to tell me that his daily was 3
Cyl fiat 500,at the time he was a local councillor, said I can’t really roll up to meetings in a gas guzzler when promoting recycling green energy and looking after and pumping cash into community and stuff, yeah and your running a 3.0 24v ,and he has a Robin Hood kit car with a 2.0 pinto but thinking of a more modern engine like zetech ,personally I’d put the senator engine in it that be good ,anyway again sorry for hijack Due this thread I’m reminiscing

Excessively damp yes - remember the OE tyres were designed in 1990 (and designed to give some slip rather than break things)

Bone dry not a chance in hell - breaking traction in the dry is possible in 1st and second only using GPS - first only without
Sale tactics then smile

Proper 'old school' pistonheads thread, iv'e done the whole 12 pages in a few hours this morning, can't remember the last time i did that,(loving the snowy picture of the cluttered driveway I must show this to the misses, who believes i'm unique) epic storytelling, look forward to hopefully more updates.

I remember meeting Not Normal and his LC at a PV show at Santa Pod circa 2009 at a guess, think he was on the MIGweb stand. Was in awe as first time I’d got up close to one and he seemed about my age lol.

Out of interest you mentioned none of your cars stay standard, how much have you upgraded on your LC?

I’ll be so sad when this thread comes to a stop, it’s been extremely entertaining reading. So much so that I refresh the thread couple of times a day.

I applaud you sir, absolutely bonkers !

Glad you like the LC - I have a very love/hate relationship with her - soon she really needs to go - I have a big issue with how she goes and to who but I'll leave that till the end of this thread and see what peoples thoughts are........
Like the LC - I love it!

I remember reading about them when they were a current car and thinking they were just fantastic.

Then 4/5 years ago I saw Not Normal's LC at a PH meet and fell in love with them again!

I really hope you are able to keep yours, despite the love/hate relationship, because if you do we'll get some updates. laugh

Hey BC, I have been reading your thread over the last few days, grateful that I haven't had to wait for the nail-biting instalments. I've been drip feeding stories of your car swapping shenanigans to my family (from 5 years old to 55 years old) and they been loving the tales! What a hilarious approach to your hobby that you have. I never knew about the Senators really, they somehow occupy a blind spot in my 80s/90s car lexicon.

The story of the Lotus Carlton is simply magic. You've owned it for a long time and I think that it's time to sell it back to Lotus as a heritage vehicle - or loan it to them. They are proper cars and it seems entirely appropriate that a local lad should own and run the parts bin special. I love the hand written notes on the engine block and elsewhere, it's quite touching really. Anyway, keep it up and remember keep it all in this thread, as you're not allowed two of anything anymore..!
