Kia Stinger GTS 2019
Discussion
These cars have an awful lot going for them. I test drove one last year but in the end I discounted it as it just felt too big on the road for what I wanted (sort of E Class/5 Series size) and the service intervals are slightly comical for an everyday car.
Great to see you are enjoying yours.

Well I've done it. Buying an ex demo one with only a few hundred miles for over 20% off and getting it late next week. Quite excited. Already ordered some overlay badges but the 'vintage K' ones rather than the 'E' as it looked smarter I felt.
Looking at a ceramic paint protection job after I get it rather than the dealer option which is the more conventional Supaguard/wax type. Dealer offered a decent discount but a guy I have been speaking with is clearly suffering businesswise with covid and offering great deals so will get him to do either ceramic or diamondbrite application in a few weeks after the new badges arrive
Thanks for the advice received here
Can't help but be interested in the tuning options although probably won't bother. Essential not to mess warranty up and even though some of these can be removed (JB4 kit) it's more hassle than I can probably be bothered with every 6 months before a service. From what I recall of the test drive (different one as haven't seen mine yet being miles away) it's plenty quick enough and I'm used to some very quick cars
Will report back on my findings when I get the car

Glad you made the plunge, I just thought I'd let you both know my cousin in Canada has fitted K&N direct replacement filters (so no warranty issues) to his Hyundai G70 (although as I said earlier Kia aren't revoking warranties on cars with the K&N Typhoon Intakes in the US, Hyundai were being vague in Canada) & he's seen an extra 9bhp & a nice bit of extra noise from the intake/turbos.
Hope this helps.

@puss Top man! Very pleased to hear!
I hope you are as happy as I am with mine.
Do you have any pics of the car yet?
If you have any questions once you pick it up, give me a shout.
@ZX10R, thanks! So, to confirm, your cousin just put K&N filters in the OE filter housing, rather than doing the full cold intake (typhoon) kit?

No the Autotrader ad it was on was removed once I agreed to buy. I will submit some pics after I get it but prepare for a shock - it's Ember Orange
Wow, that will look stunning, especially if you have it ceramic coated! A bold choice - with the looks and rarity of the car too, prepare for a lot of attention!

Yep they're direct replacements for the OE filters.I hope you are as happy as I am with mine.

Was just confirming what your cousin had done.
Cheers
Just wondering if anyone has had or heard of anyone having had any issues with warranty claims?
It's meant to be Unlimited for 7 years (or so the ad blurb says) but I did notice in the T&Cs that the Audio and Nav unit isn't (3 yrs only) and obviously there are other exclusions.
I'm not expecting there to be any issues but wondered what the consensus was on whether dealers had attempted to avoid claims?
Also wondering what their view is on making modifications. So an aftermarket exhaust for example? I can understand they would quibble if a fault develops with the power-train after fitting a remap or piggy back chip to boost power so the US forums have people who remove their mods prior to each service.
I'm not sure I could be bothered as that would be every 6 months but curious nonetheless

Kia are very good with warranty claims as long as the car has been serviced within their network & in quite a few cases outside too. It's meant to be Unlimited for 7 years (or so the ad blurb says) but I did notice in the T&Cs that the Audio and Nav unit isn't (3 yrs only) and obviously there are other exclusions.

Another minor question:
I have read comments elsewhere about a minor design flaw relating to the tailgate closure. They suggest you can't do it manually. I am looking at a trickle charger set-up given the current likely periods of non-use. I always put my cars on one if not being used regularly
I believe the battery is in the boot so if the auto closure detects a wire poking out it might not close it unless it can be done manually?
Seems unlikely that manual operation isn't possible. The BMW X6M I had for some years was auto closing but it could be manually overridden if needs be. Indeed, car washers will sometimes not know a tailgate/boot is electric and lift/close by hand inadvertently
Any thoughts?
