It does indeed. I like that colour.

Did you go for the direct replacement K&N's.

Hi ZX, no, not yet. Appreciated the links though.

Have done a lot of reading around the subject. I’m not sure if the extra 9bhp will make that much difference to me, and whether the additional intake / turbo noise is for me. The car feels plenty fast enough for now too.

So, going to stick with stock for now, wait for this Covid scenario to play out, and then liaise with Kia in terms of what they will agree to, mod-wise.

I have seen your comments about Kia Canada’s views - really helpful, so thanks.

I may look at other, non-powertrain mods in time too. I’m not a fan of the badge changes, I like the fact that it is a Kia and proud of it, so don’t really understand some people’s desire to hide the make. I may do a few subtle interior changes instead.

Wheels will probably be next, again in time. This one is a keeper, so no rush. This will be either a powder coat finish in a darker colour - maybe gunmetal to match the dark chrome trim - or possibly aftermarket rims.

It's funny how Kia America are fine with the Typhoon kit being fitted & won't invalidate the warranty, Hyundai are just as relaxed whereas in Canada they will only allow direct replacements.

The 9bhp isn't the main thing my cousin noticed, it was the better throttle response & with turbos spooling up a bit quicker it's made the car more enjoyable for him.

Wheels will make the car.

Yep, interesting about US and Canada. My brother is near Toronto and he sees a lot more Stingers than we do.

What matters to me is the Kia UK view, as the warranty was one of the deciding factors in choosing the Stinger.

Yes, agree regarding the wheels.

Are the Canadian versions the 4wd variants?

You can buy 4WD or RWD in Canada. Think the same in the US.

Only RWD available in the UK.

Hi everyone, Dunc kindly referred me to this thread as I'm looking to buy a Stinger.

I'm thinking a 2019 model GT S looks a good bet. Seem to be around 30-31K for a low mile main dealer car. Would I still be able to get the service package on a used model?

I'll not be able to view due to covid and need to buy this month so not really sure on colours.

I like red, but the ceramic is growing on me. Is it really Matt? Trying to understand if it like the primer look on Porsche and Audi or more glossy?

I've seen some well priced models in white and black and wondered if they are metallic?

Any other advice or things to be aware of when talking with the dealer? Covid or car related!

Thank you!

Hi, so the Primer works for me. Have had quite a few positive comments. It isn’t matt at all. See here:

I’d say just take the usual precautions when buying, especially from distance.

Ask for a video of the car, ask for the dealer to specifically highlight any marks, stone chips, kerbing etc.

When you view the car, check everything over very carefully, as you would with any car. If you can test drive, watch out for a sunroof creak or rattle. If you hear one, be aware that Kia UK are struggling to fix it.

Otherwise, there are no specific issues I or other owners have come across. Fantastic cars and something a little different. Be aware that you will attract some attention.

Oh, and yes, as above from ZX10R, you can buy the service package on a used car.

Good luck and shout if you have any further queries.

While I'm here, a few questions someone might be able to shed light on:
1. I find the proximity facility on the key a bit erratic. Is it dependent on which side of the car you last locked it on? For example, if locked via the handle button on the driver's side will it still work when approaching the passenger side? Seems unlikely so might be something to bring up at its first service
2. Seat memory selection can only be done while in Park. Quite annoying as I typically save 2 positions depending on the type of journey. One for town use where I am higher up and more upright for best visibility and the other lower down and laid back for distance/motorway trips as my back is terrible if upright for too long. I know its a minor issue as it can still be adjusted on the move but every other car I have had has allowed memory selection on the move.
3. HiFi. It's a bit bright for my tastes (suffer from misophonia) and even with the Treble down to -10 it's only just ok. I have also biased it more the rear from the centre position which helps but I wonder if anyone has replaced the HK tweeters with anything less bright? I have found with HK speakers in BMWs that they are a bit bright for me so it's not just a KIA issue. I also find the lowest volume increments frustrating as there is quite a jump between zero and the first level. yes my hearing is ridiculously sensitive. I have it that low when talking with the wife in the car around town. You can imagine what I'm like when a squeak or rattle develops. lol.
Actually, top tip for anyone who gets annoyed by the sound of the passenger seat belt buckle rattling against the nasty hard B pillar plastic - Double sided Nano sticky tape. Super sticky without any residue. It's strong enough to hold the belt/buckle up against the plastic trim yet easy enough to lift off the buckle for use.

So, the proximity is erratic. I just use the key to be honest.
The memory seat is what it is I guess.

In terms of the HK settings, it is very bright and I did quite a lot of research. I have amended the advanced settings as per a US discussion I read and it is really much better now.

I will check them next time I am in the car and let you know what I have set them to. Hopefully that will be better.

No issues with the passenger seat belt here, just the freaking sunroof!

Steve, the orange is looking good after the detail. No-one is going to miss that!

In terms of the sound system, these are my settings - note Clari-Fi deselected.
