I presume these use the camber bolts on the rear arm like other fords for rear toe?
Be aware they maybe seized solid into the rear arm bearing if they haven't been touched for a while.
Geometry was done last year after I changed the lower control arms bungz, so I'm not too concerned!! Be aware they maybe seized solid into the rear arm bearing if they haven't been touched for a while.
After 3 months of ownership Peanut is finally having something done to her, I noticed during the week that the wiper blades were hard and not particularly good, so a trip to Halfords for new ones and also a couple of other bits, namely a new air freshener(lemon sherbet flavour), a Haynes manual, a bulb kit and a plastic coated deep alloy wheel socket, that'll be £87 please sir!!!
And so back home armed with the new wipers I set about grunting, swearing, huffing and puffing until I finally admitted defeat and opened the new Haynes manual to look up how to remove them, it's actually quite simple when you actually know what you're doing!!
Old rear vs new.
The fronts are held on with a simple push button lock.
Old vs new.
And fitted.

Stop teasing with wiper blades.
What about the new springamabobs and shockolaters?
Patience grasshopper............What about the new springamabobs and shockolaters?
Oh go on then, I picked Rio up at about 4.30, the cost for fitting all the parts and two new front strut tops came to a very reasonable £314!!!
We took her for a bit of a drive, around 15 miles, and I can confirm that the knock is completely gone!!!
I can also confirm that the ride is hugely improved, it's noticeably stiffer and flatter through corners without being jarring or crashy, it's also quieter, the brakes need a short time to bed in but pedal feel is much improved, to say I'm both happy and impressed is an understatement!!
Even Mrs Bobbers could tell there was a difference in the way Rio rides!!!
A couple of pics.

Let us know how much time you now manage to knock off your PB on the journey to work
I must admit it was quite entertaining driving to work this morning and being able to carry a lot more speed into corners!!!bungz said:
Looks smart does that.
Really changes a car refreshing all the saggy bits
You leave my saggy bits out of this, you know very well it's an age thing!!! Really changes a car refreshing all the saggy bits
So I had the Geometry done yesterday and it surprisingly wasn't that bad to start with, I've been using a place a mile or so from where I work for tyres and tracking for a few years now, so I took Rio back to them and paid extra for the 2yr/8 adjustments package (£149), still a slight pull to the drivers side under hard acceleration but I'm guessing that's where I have a brand new tyre that side and an older part worn the passenger side, all the tyres were replaced in late 19 but a puncture a couple of weeks back forced the purchase of a new tyre!!
Geometry read out below.
And Mrs Bobbers informed me last night that Peanut has just rolled over 22300 miles!!

I've been thinking about swapping my three spoke non-cruise control steering wheel on the Rioja Blue Racing Slug for a four spoke cruise enabled steering wheel, differing reports say it's a straight swap with just a small change to the cars software to enable the cruise to show up on the dash, but some also say there's more to it............

I can neither confirm nor deny that my commute to work is quicker than before, what i can confirm though is that by heck it can go round corners quicker now!!! There's a particular corner off a roundabout on the way in which has now seen 65mph with out issue, whereas before 45-50mph resulted in a bit of a drift with some tyre squeal!!!

Fords have really handled well since RPJ did the control blade rear setup on the original Focus. I can throw the Mondeo around like it's a small car!
They do seem to be very capable in standard trim, Mrs Bobbers old Focus came with the sport pack so handled well anyway, certainly far better than Rio did before the upgrades, it's always amazed me how well Mondeo's handle for what is a relatively big car!!!Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
