Good evening Eyersey1234 old chap, both are in fine fettle thanks, Rio is off for a spot more bodywork at the start of December, a small patch of rust bubbling up on drivers side rear arch.
I have however taken the decision to not spend any more money on him save for maintenance, I think it's a case of just how much do I keep throwing at him to get more power?!?!
He's already proving great fun to drive so time to stop I feel!!!

How's your Focus going???

A nupdate, Rio continues to be great fun, a weekend away to Trowbridge, Lacock and Castle Combe has been had, only about 300 miles in total but he came back absolutely filfy!!!

So the lovely Eastern European gents at Tesco's gave him some love!!!

Being a useless twonk I managed to back into a low wall scratchching and chipping his rear bumper, so as he needs a little bit of rust sorting I took him to my mate who did the last lot of bodywork, he's now booked in fir the first weekend in December to have the rust and rear bumper done!!!
Peanut continues to perform faultlessly and is now on 28,450 miles, Mrs Bobbers still adores her!!!

I've just noticed, Rio seems to be a very similar shade of blue to the Peugeot he was parked next to in that shot

So then, nupdate time, Rio has developed a starting issue!!! frown
He's done it a couple of times in the past but now if he's left for more than 24 hours he'll start, run for a few seconds and cut out, then I have to apply some throttle and crank him over until he eventually fires. confused
I'm thinking it's some sort of pressure drain?
Has anyone else had similar?
He's booked in for a bit of bodywork tomorrow/Friday and I'll pick him up on Monday, we're off to Wales in Peanut on Friday morning, returning Sunday lunchtime!!!

Ah, there you are, well as you're here I suppose I'd better give you all, er, both of you, an update!!!
So then, back on the 2nd of December we took Peanut all the way to Wales, a round trip of 376 miles which she completed without issue, despite the freezing fog, and I must say she was very comfortable!!!
While we were away having fun, drinking and eating Rio went to a spa...........
OK, so maybe that's a stretch, but he did go to a good friend's bodyshop to have some rust treated in the drivers side rear arch, and to have the rear bumper realigned and resprayed after I tried parking by touch!!! rolleyes
A couple of weeks before all this Rio had started to become difficult to start from cold, I'd replaced his battery to no avail, so off to the garage I use he went!!!
Where they discovered a short in the glow plug loom and a blown fuse, so short traced and rectified and the fuse replaced and he appears to be good as gold!!!
I've put my name down for the first Sunday Service at the British Motor Museum on the 29th of January, so if you're reading this and fancy saying hello, to Rio obviously not me rolleyes, then come and do so!!!

Rio not fixed!!!
Started, ran for about 5 seconds, stopped, had to crank him over for a good 20+seconds before he started again!!!

Thanks Eyersey, i'm pretty fed up with it to be honest, i've decided to wait until he won't start at all before i try to get him fixed, intermittent faults are notoriously difficult to find!!!!

A nupdate, just a wee one, after some Gluggeling and reading a few posts were indicating an air leak allowing the fuel to run back into the tank from the filter, so I took the top of the fuel filter and sure enough it was only about 1/3rd full when it should be full up!!!
So I cleaned it all up, refilled it and made sure all the connectors were seated properly and that the top was sealed properly, it took some cranking but he started and ran OK, and has started OK every time since, so fingers firmly crossed it's fixed the problem!!!

Fingers crossed, that does sound like a plausible explanation…. I remember breaking down on the A1 in similar circumstances when the internals of my fuel filter broke down and started pulling air as well as fuel into the injectors.

Good luck!

Indeed, a mixture of motivational issues and priorities unfortunately. Too many things that need doing, and I'm not going to bring it out until spring, so it's down the priority list.... (it's also cold outside) hehe

I really want to see back on the road this year though.
