This looks like a riot! Can't wait to see the updates.
I always support engine swaps - the madder the better. If only I had the skill to do it myself...

Good luck with it!

Good project! I'm sure that it will be a lot of fun and an interesting thing to own.

Check the rack angle as you'll have some bump steer as-is. I'd raise the engine too.

Most definitely not something I’d personally want to own, but the journey to get the build together, the fabrication work, the challenges faced, I can certainly get excited by the prospect of the thread!

Would love to read about the decisions made and progress to date, let alone what happens in the future.

I appreciate it’s been done before, but never a 1uz afaik and never a twin turbo, and never kept a standard interior and rarely independent rear suspension. So it’s a first in that regard. Not that I care about it being a first, I’m doing it because I want to and this whole thing has been a cheap project that I can play about with in the garage.

Rack angle has been sorted, no bump steer if my calculations are correct. Engine can’t go up anymore. It is where it is now. I’ll just raise the car a little as it’s on coilovers. But I think I’ll be ok either way.

Appreciate the good luck all. It’s actually much further along that I’m letting on tbh but I’m not allowed to share links on here so it’s have to wait until I have the time to upload the pictures for further updates

I love the idea. If I had money to waste, I'd have put a V8 in my old Golf Cabriolet for sts and giggles.

Is it a waste of money if you’re enjoying yourself? wink

Why? The Lexus lump is a very good motor. Not a powerhouse in stock trim, but will take boost and nitrous very well. I bought one myself for a project, but sadly never got round to utilising it.

This. 100% this.

Don't care if it's utterly pointless, costs a fortune and you could by a <insert model here> that would be better for less money.

I love seeing peoples efforts.

More I'd need the space to do it personally. I have a couple of swaps I'd love to do if I had the space. Oh and free cash of course. smile

What’s the best way to upload images on here? The native uploader is very unreliable and finicky. I don’t tend to use any external site as everything is recorded in video

1 by 1 adding these pictures is like pulling teeth.

I use Imgur.

Though for video, just linking to YouTube might be easiest.

You can use google images but it's a royal pain in the arse to do so. Imgur is much better.

Moderator edit: no YouTube links please

The mods won't let the OP and while I posted a link it's been zapped also (I've been following his build). You can easily find it with a search however.

If you’re really interested - search for the Flexus and you should find it no problems.

Otherwise focus V8 should have you stumbling across it lol.

It’s the only grey one I think

Think it's safe to say this is gonna need an IVA and get a Q plate!

Yep, as soon as you cut the chassis it's going to need an IVA.

Equally it's lost too many points to keep the reg...actually thinking about it, it's lost *all* the points rofl
