The Focus and Mondeo should have always been RWD imo.
What is annoying (for the Mondeo anyway) is that the option was there. The Mk1,Mk2,Mk3 and Mk4 can be converted with bolt on parts from "sister" models from other brands sharing the same "platform".

Focus mk2 was the same. If I had a choice again I’d use the mk2 to make it easier. What is annoying (for the Mondeo anyway) is that the option was there. The Mk1,Mk2,Mk3 and Mk4 can be converted with bolt on parts from "sister" models from other brands sharing the same "platform".
Won’t be as cheap as this though

The Mondeo was originally available with four wheel drive. What is annoying (for the Mondeo anyway) is that the option was there. The Mk1,Mk2,Mk3 and Mk4 can be converted with bolt on parts from "sister" models from other brands sharing the same "platform".

The latest Mk5 is/was available with AWD as well but only as an automatic diesel.

Well you lot can be a miserable bunch eh?! Only place I’ve had worse reception is on an american Facebook group where they just plain hated the focus.
Appreciate the feedback all, It does surprise me a little at the negativity coming from a forum of car enthusiasts. As an enthusiast myself I’m more than happy to support anyone who wants to do something mad just because. It’s not my money and time why would it bother me how they spend it?
Anyway, I will continue to spend my free time in the garage working on this and when it gets cold enough I’ll bugger off to the alps to snowboard (is it ok to spend my time and money on that too? Jus’ checkin’ ...)
Currently the rear ended is taking up my time. Wiring is mostly done. Rear wheels rotate via a gearbox. Front wheels turn. It has no brakes though... that could be a problem LOL
Only got this far through the thread so far (page 3) but you can be sure I'll be reading the whole thing! Having recently completed a Ford engine swap myself (although in a Fiesta and not quite so ambitious/challenging, still a laugh mind) I'm looking forward to seeing the progress for sure.Appreciate the feedback all, It does surprise me a little at the negativity coming from a forum of car enthusiasts.
