Glad to see you’re getting on with the car. i’d Be interested to hear what you think of the performance compared to some of your other cars.

Be careful in the wet, they stick their tails out without much prompting! Once I accelerated hard off a roundabout and wondered why the engine speed was increasing but my road speed wasn’t - took a couple of moments to realise I was fishtailing down the road! That’s on original fitment Bridgestone RE050A which are only so-so in the wet in fairness.

CarPlay must be nice to have in these. How does the new HU look against the dash? I wanted to keep the original Clarion/Bose HU so opted for one of China’s best:

Actually works very well when tuned to 87.5fm (emergency channel apparently, so little unwanted noise). At least when the world ends I can be listening to my favourite songs rather than a boring Government broadcast laugh

I actually found a problem with the TCS where in the wet it kicked in far too early and left me sat in the middle of the road going nowhere laugh

Hope you are enjoying the car, the ICE system is very much from the initial models in 2004, when it was then even out of date (tape deck!). Either do the aux mod or get a new head unit, which does look a bit weird against the older grey plastics. You could remove the dash and spray it black to modernise, or other options I have seen are people modifying the cubby to fit a tablet?

Yeah, liking it. In a straight line I reckon it's surprisingly close to the RX-7, maybe a tad slower but not much. There is more difference in the nature of the performance than its quantity - although the Z has a good amount of torque, it still needs revving out to give absolutely 100%, and it stays flatter and feels less dramatic/exciting than the RX-7.

I know what you mean about the traction issues - I'm keeping the traction / stability control turned on, especially in the wet, at least for the time being. The Michelins have made it much better, it can still trigger the TCS but the threshold is a lot further away than on the Ditchfinders. Definitely worth buying good tyres for. I've heard other reports of over-eager TCS cutting the power for seconds at a time, maybe my later car has a more sophisticated system but the interventions have felt fairly unobtrusive and gentle to me so far.

I've fixed the photo in my previous post showing the new head unit in the car - I think it cleans up the appearance nicely, with fewer buttons, but obviously it's no longer original. The FM transmitter solution is cunning, I've done something similar in the past - beats a cassette adapter!

The TCS really frustrated me in my 370Z on the way home from collecting it as well. It has Michelin PS4's on it but it just seems too keen to cut in for me.

I've got into a habit now of turning it off as soon as I get in it, not because I'm a driving hero but purely because it annoys me so much. The 350Z/370Z are really entertaining cars to drive for me...so I'm not sure why Nissan hobble them with very protective traction aids.
