Cars due an Oil service soon and I'm in two minds.
Oxford BMW want £450 for an Oil Change.

Seems excessive, I haven't had a newish car for a while. If I want to keep the warranty in check, Is it still OK to use an independent garage with the BMW parts?
My Company is a bought the car outright for me, so I think we will keep it for a while.

Damn

Servicing your BMW vehicle.
– Failure to comply with the service schedule recommended by BMW Group UK may invalidate the warranty. An Authorised BMW Centre or BMW Service Authorised Workshop using only genuine BMW Parts must carry out all service and warranty work. The BMW Service Booklet should also be stamped, dated and detailed with the correct mileage at the time of service by the servicing BMW Centre.

That is daft money for an oil change!

I could be wrong, but I thought manufacturers were not allowed to force you to use them for servicing, providing the work was comparable and using the recommended parts and methods?

Do you have an independent BMW specialist nearby? If you are near Somerset I can recommend a place. smile

Sorry for thread resurrection but considering ordering one of these next month through my company car scheme with Leaseplan. Does anyone know what the wait times are for delivery?

Was going to go for Sapphire black with Pro and tech packs with the 22” 742M wheels and panoramic roof. Would like surround view but seems to be part of a pack only with other things I don’t need however the Configurator seems to think can get it as a £645 option then doesn’t show it in the summary. Bit confusing, I suppose I may have to go into a dealer but doubt they will want to know as getting through Leaseplan.

Probably best to speak with a dealer about the options and lead time to get a definitive answer, they are usually pretty helpful. smile

My car has continentals on the rear. And the fronts need replacing but there isn't any stock of Contis anywhere.

What to do?!?!?!

If I'm keeping the car in warranty would I need to stick with Continentals

That's mad - there are planty of 45E's out there now, so this shouldn't be such an issue.
What have the suppliers said in terms of lead time to get them?

It’s not an oil change though. It’s an oil change, micro filter, standard scope reset and inspection of check listed components and hybrid system.

You’d be absolutely crazy to take a car anywhere other than a dealer.

Don't worry I got a service pack now. It saved me a few quid over the next two years.

I am looking for a slightly larger and comfortable car with our 2 small children.

I went full circle with the SUV thing that went 2017 Macan Turbo (lovely but a bit small inside and not very big nor pratical boot) to cayenne turbo (big, comfortable and ticked all the boxes but was a bit too much) back down to X3 M40i (was best all rounder with everything I needed really) followed by a C63 AMG Estate (because estates are cooler and that engine is something else).

Except estates are cool but smaller inside, impossible to carry that odd 5th passenger and the ride is as stiff as they come with the C63. The reality is also that having 2 small kids and living in town I barely get to drive it at all and certainly even rarer is the occasion where I get to drive it in anger on a proper b road.

Comes in the X5 which I kinda kept an eye on given the superb cabin and refinement. A sort of luxury X3 we loved at home.

I found an insanely specc’ed X5 45e. I mean insane. It has every individual option from tanzanite + coffee merino leather to alcantara headliner to bowers stereo, down to comfort plus pack to the rear steer system. Literally everything.

20k odd miles. One owner. 57k bmw approved. Went to see the car this week. Took it out for a short drive. Cosmetically I think it needs some good tlc as the guy must have used his supermarket guys to wash it but other than that it felt well kept.

The ride is surreal, felt like a sort of air cushion, it felt so detached compared to the Mercedes I was really surprised. Cayenne was on air suspension but this was something else. The engine combo is super relaxing and you barely notice kicking it and out. It feels its side and you feel you driving a bus seated on this super soft merino leather seat. It was a fair bit more remote that I expected. Obviously the contrast with the c63 which is too stiff is not helping.

The “issue” for me is one practicality. This model did not have the “hooks” in the alcantara roof panel in order to potentially attaché the luggage divider net, in order to load it up to the roof if required. Somehow I thought they were standard? Both the x3 and c63 have a net integrated in the parcel shelf if needed. Which I find pure genius.

I have a feeling it is standard on petrol versions.

Then there’s the price. I think it’s still 8-9k more than an equivalent petrol. Which I think I would never see back in petrol alone. So smaller boot, more expensive but more feel good in town worth it? I have not yet decided..

When I was there they had a X5M new for 135k pre LCI. then a 2yr old used one with 20k odd miles for sun 70k.. makes you think. They also had a M3 CS available in the showroom in matte white (no driving assistance nor CC brakes).
