They look the bomb! Will be worth wait :-)
Fingers crossed. 12th Feb will be 6 months since ordered, I'm keeping everything crossed they arrive sooner rather than later.gary71 said:
They will look fab. Can’t beat a gold BBS split rim on the right car. And this is the right car
Thanks dude. I certainly hope so, I've seen a few european Vectra A's with the bbs style wheel and they look pretty sweet.phil_cardiff said:
Will look proper on the Le Mans. Good choice.
Fingers crossed Phil, be an expensive mistake if it looks gash. Skyrocket21 said:
I thought you might be interested in seeing this page, there might be some more info out there, Irmler Racing are restoring Jeff Allam’s 1993 BTCC number 020 Vauxhall Cavalier:

I’ve just forwarded that link to Jeff. He’ll love to see one of his old race cars being brought back to life!https://www.irmler-racing.de/en/news/restoration-r...
Baumgartner & Brand make the best wheels in the world. I've been to Schiltach and their operation is absolutely top-notch. And, let's face it, the LM is the ultimate bolt-fixed road wheel they make (centre-locks don't count as they are painful on the road!)
They make OEM wheels for most of the big Germans and their R&D is top secret, great choice of wheel!

Thanks dude, I just hope they suit it. LM's are the absolute nuts, and being in the correct offset for the Cavalier is perfect. They're as near to the supertourer wheels as I'd like to go. Centre locks are a nuisance on the road, and I've no need for 18's with the power I'm running. They make OEM wheels for most of the big Germans and their R&D is top secret, great choice of wheel!
Can't beat LM's and they'd have been the wheel of choice on my M3 had I been able to afford them. I love the Compomotive TH too, although they're nowhere near as light. I ran E50 reps for a while but they were nowhere near strong enough for regular road use, which is why I went back to the TH. They may have been heavier but they're very strong with it. Anyway, sorry for rambling and your car is looking fantastic. Certainly in the top 6 cars on PH for me.

Jeez that takes me back about 25 years! These were a favourite wheel of mine back then although I never had the funds or right car to put them on. They looked great on most of the early 90's saloons to give the racer look. I hoped to get a white 4dr E36 with these and make it a BTCC replica. Owned a few E36's but didn't have the funds at the time to modify them and now finding a clean one at at decent (sub £5k) price is not easy. The BBS LM's will look fantastic on the Cav. I can see you now jumping out of the car and shouting "the mans an animal".

TH's are lovely wheels but offset was the problem I think. I wasn't able to find those in a high 40 either. That M3 is a lovely lovely thing, another of my lottery garage cars Thanks for the compliment, I'm not sure it deserves a position that high on the list but I am pleased with how it's turning out. It kills me working away from home and not being able to get at it!

There was a thread on here a while ago where someone bought a white E36 saloon and tracked it. It was an incredible thread and build and showed me what was really possible when you put your mind to it. The BBS LM's will look fantastic on the Cav. I'll definitely be trying not to, I can't help if I'm rammed by a madman in an E36 though! Sf_Manta said:
I remember watching this live, and Soper was NOT popular for that punt!
Ditto, I remember my Cavalier owning Dad being quite grumpy too. Worth noting that Vauxhall still won the manufacturers championship that year though. CouncilFerrari said:
As mentioned above, I got Covid in early December so my three week hitch offshore turned out to be a measly 4 days. The bad news is I'm a contractor so it was a bit of a hit to the wallet right before Christmas, the good news was 5 weeks at home over Christmas and New Year. Which of course meant more Cavvy time!
Managed after a lot of hunting to find some wing indicator bulb holders, so I soldered them in, fitted the chrome bulbs and the clear lenses. While I want to keep the body relatively standard, I really don't like the orange lenses that came on them originally.
Much cleaner.
Next I set about creating a decent fuel pump/filter mount of the three st ones that I had in my box of spares
Disassembled (scrap and rust)
And a replacement mounting plate which attaches the fuel pump mount to the rear subframe. This was CNC cut by a fantastic petrolhead who runs a business called Lochaber stainless. Looks much better than the original and it won't rust, bonza.
Long time lurker but had to comment to say car is looking the business and will sound immense on the iTB's. Fondly remember the mid 90's BTCC like many others.Managed after a lot of hunting to find some wing indicator bulb holders, so I soldered them in, fitted the chrome bulbs and the clear lenses. BTW Aiden at Lochaber Stainless does some beautiful work, are you local to the area?

Thanks for that, I'm slowly ticking off the list of jobs. Feels like it's coming together nicely now. I hope it sounds good, ITB noise is addictive and although not cheap it was the reason I went this way rather than the more powerful turbo route. I'm not local to Aiden no, we had a mutual friend on facebook and Aiden was knocking him some trick bits up for his Cav so I asked if he could make me one too!
