A car a month for 2020. Idiocy but you love it.

I’m not scared of removing the headlight, I just think it’s ludicrous that you need to do so to access a fluid reservoir!
I don’t think that kind of code reader will read codes relating to anything other than engine - I do have some good diagnostic kit that I’m going to get at it with shortly though.

You shouldn't need to remove the headlight to get to the reservoir, it should be just tucked down in the front left side of the engine bay behind the headlight, if you do need to remove it it's the single screw on the top of the slam panel above the headlight, and then just pull it out towards the front of the car!!
Next video will be looking at this and running diagnostics, see if I can shed some light on what’s up with it. Steering felt a bit dodgy for the first time coming out of the work car park today. It’s been behaving itself mostly and was fine once I was on the move properly but I think I’ll need to get on with the diagnosis rather than just driving it in ignorance
Radio only seems to want to stay tuned to Classic FM for any length of time, not sure what that’s about

Starting to think the reports from the previous owner of the steering fault are a bit of a red herring - I have noticed a clunk/thump occasionally on full lock after using it a bit more but it does the same thing if you try to pull away from a standstill at a less-than-sensible rate - I suspect it has a bad CV joint
Obviously it has *something* wrong with the steering which I’ll be getting into shortly but I think the main complaint the previous owner had with it is unrelated!

I have a George wet vac that could probably sort the seats out but it’s unlikely to get it. I’ll be selling this on cheap as-is, as fixed as it’ll get, rather than full retail prep.
Not going to be doing much beyond very basic washes unless something really needs polishing/is exceptionally dirty and it’d make a good video or whatever.
I’m sure I could hang onto this Focus a little bit longer, fit a set of better condition alloys etc and sell it for good money but that all takes time and space!
Feb’s car is agreed already

This is an interesting/useful document for anyone chasing EHPS issues like this. - the Focus uses a very similar TRW steering system.

..... Ford didn’t spec a pump with a dipstick built in though, joy.

The photos flatter it more than somewhat, every panel has some sort of defect. It's a good base car for some cheap thrills though.
You'd have thought at 41 I'd have grown out of enjoying cheap old cars, but no. I've done 200 miles in it already while my MX5 and 2014 Mini Clubman haven't had a look in this week!
Yeah tell me about it, I was getting a ribbing from my OH for taking the £174 wonder to work on Monday whilst my 2018 320d which I bought specifically for commuting sat unused You'd have thought at 41 I'd have grown out of enjoying cheap old cars, but no. Love this, are you having a rule that Jan's car needs to be sold before Feb's arrival?
Or is there a chance (probably a good one) that you'll have 12 cars by Christmas 2020? (I'm sure we could create a seasonal song for that)
There’s a chance of the latter for sure.... Feb’s car is secured already I just haven’t collected it yet. Can’t see this Focus sticking around especially if I manage to repair the steering fault though!Or is there a chance (probably a good one) that you'll have 12 cars by Christmas 2020? Love it. Just get an FM transmitter and use Radioplayer on your phone for the stereo if it hasn't got bluetooth. If it has, skip the FM transmitter!
On a slightly OT note, how did you create the logo splash on the start of the video? I need to do something similar...

There was an FM transmitter in the car when I collected it - it’s the kind that plugs into a 3.5mm headphone jack though, not much use with an iJesus!

Just out of interest op. Where will you be mainly looking for the cars and how adventurous will you be with them? For example there are some great looking motors on facebook marketplace owned by what I can only assume are very questionable characters. Risk and reward I suppose but I spend most of my evening now drooling over moderately interesting cars for £400 being sold by people who can barely take a picture or write
I’m not going to be sourcing very many from that particular channel - I cannot stand buying £100 scrappers for £400 from idiots who can’t even be arsed chucking a bucket of water over whatever they bought yesterday and “just got da green slip m8” for.
