Probably not the best idea though because it engages SDi mode sometimes as it is hehe
‘Engage SDi Mode’

It’s like a Shed crossed with the Starship Enterprise.

Fantastic. Keep it coming TP!

By the way, what happened to that Fiat Panda you bought that had a broken everything?

A potentiometer between two wires on the fuel pump and a switch and LED.

The TDIClub thread used to be called "champagne performance on a beer budget"

Evry mod fools the ECU into thinking it's like -30 outside and adds in fuel to compensate.

Plug it in, it should have OBD2. A fiver dongle and a free android app to scan it and hopefully an easy fix for your limp mode.

You need to wire it up to a momentary button on the wheel to pretend you're Paul Walker.... ENGAGE.... TDi MODE!!!!!!

The Rover has headed off to its new home today too - I’m sure it won’t be the last we’ll hear of it! thumbup
Indeed :-)

The old girl has been pressed into daily service this week, on a 30 mile round trip commute.

The idea was just to give it a shake-down prior to the summer, where it will be doing a long distance trip each month taking me up to the interesting coastal bits of Scotland, with a bloody great kayak on the roof.

Damn me if it hasn't got under my skin already though!

Between my own cars, many many hire cars through work, and my Fathers eclectic fleet, I've driven a lot of different motors. This thing is something quite different though, and I never would have believed it. Soooooo comfy and relaxing. Slow, for sure, but it matters not - once you're up to speed it just floats, beautifully.

It really is a testament to the fastidious nature of the owner previous to our man Toasty.

250k miles? I wouldn't be surprised if you told me there had been some sort of accounting error and it had actually done 50k, or less!

As a small gesture of thanks to the OP, I'll be posting some pics of the old girl in some remote and hopefully picturesque surroundings throughout the summer.

If I dont get it to 300k I'll be disappointed in myself.

Just this evening a chap in his mid-seventies saw me getting out of it in an Aldi car park and commented on how good it looked and how he was happy to see a looked after Rover. I'm not sure he believed me when I told him it had 256k under it's wheels!

I just wish I could grow a decent beard.....

Always been told you can’t polish a turd - disproven.

Oh that’s coming too biggrin - I’ll be replacing the missing lens from the bumper, adding wheel arch covers etc.

Quite happy with how this is coming on. New plates arrived today so I'll need to get those and the wheel arch covers fitted and I think it'll actually be pretty smart! It'll always be a bit of a five footer, but without starting some serious restoration (for which there are far better candidates) it's doing alright!

Not much I can do about the bad rattle can finish on the OSF wing, I'm afraid!

Decided to order a used window motor for the NSF, give it all four working windows. I would be better off just selling the other three motors and scrapping the rest, the price they fetch!!

The problem with polishing a turd is... you still have a turd at the end of it! biggrin

Is that a Boxster I see in the back ground too, the one you messaged me about?

It is - one day I’ll get round to giving it the care and attention it deserves! Runs and drives fine and still has a valid MOT but certainly requires some maintenance.

No. It’s been around for a while, I’ll maybe get torn into it at some point.... it’s knackered but is really clean and tidy with 33k on the clock.

April will feature some topless action yikes

My father-in-law had a near identical Golf to that. Same year, model and colour.

He was renovating a house at the time, and pretty much used it as a van, carting timber, building materials and painting and decorating stuff around, and also for many, many tip runs to get rid of stuff.

He ran it until he retired in 2005, and they decided they only needed one car. The mother-in-law had an immaculate, low mileage mk4 TDI, so the mk3 had to go. It was cosmetically very scruffy, but still ran like clockwork, and drove really well. Can't remember the exact mileage, but it was well into the 200s.

Solid old things.

Hi chap,

Not sure if it's of interest at all, but I have just got a new car so looking to get rid of my old one (peugeot 307 estate). It has MOT til August and you'd be welcome to have it for scrap money (cba dealing with idiots for the sake a a few hundred quid, but would rather it was kept in use than scrapped).

Thanks thumbup but there’s no room at the inn at the moment sadly - I have cars in the pipeline for the next few months!

Post it in the joy of running a shed thread in general gassing, you might find someone on there willing to snap that up!
