I quite agree with you, I work on cars day in day out and hate VAG products with a vengeance.
It’s just awful. You can tell absolutely everything is made with the factory in mind - fk the repairer.

I've only owned one VAG car, you had to take the whole front off just to change a radiator (that rotted ridiculously early too), then changing a front bulb took similar stupid levels of work.

I'm a bit stumped on your latest vid... You dont mention any diagnostics - I assume that means it doesn't have a compatible port?

My only other guess is a dodgy lead - worth a few quid to check?

170psi vs 180/185 doesn't sound like buggered valvetrain to me.

It’s got a really old proprietary Renault diagnostic port. I think my Delphi knock off will talk to it with an adapter but given there’s no check engine light on it’s unlikely to yield anything.

Leads are in good condition and have sensible resistance - not to say they aren’t knackered but I’ve already done a fair bit of parts darts with this!

There was a little bit of this on the way home

Hoping I just didn’t bleed the cooling system properly. Drove further from this lay-by than it did to get there with no incident. Will hopefully be giving it another test run today!

Drove back to the unit today - engine is running well but the water level did drop a little bit on the fairly short journey. Will run it up to temperature in the unit tomorrow and check for leaks/make sure I've got all of the air out!

Aparrently the cooling system capacity is 5.6L, definitely still short of that so fingers crossed it's actually all good

Yeah not my finest effort. Dirty lens for the wheel nut removal wasn’t great either hehe

At least in Europe. The American Ford Fusion is a Mondeo.

Reckon the Fox is back to fighting fit now. Ran it up to temperature in the unit, fan kicks in, heater is roasting hot and the coolant level is stable. biggrin

It does have an oil leak though. Disturbing the seal on the sump removing the stupidly designed timing cover has caused it. Removed the sump today and will reseal it tomorrow - fingers crossed that’ll stop the leaking and it’ll be good to press into service!

Nah it’ll be a daily driver for a bit I think - I’m about to start doing food deliveries for a large retailer and the store is in an area I wouldn’t be particularly keen on leaving my BMW whilst on shift!
