A car a month for 2020. Idiocy but you love it.

Well Done Toastie for managing to do as much during this year of st.
I’ve been following the videos on the cheaper cars (apologies but the MG is so far out of my price bracket it isn’t for me) & am really interested to see both the Panda & Aixam progress.
Watched your latest video but didn’t see anything about the Rav4.
I know you didn’t really feature it much but it was one of your buys this year too.
Best of luck with the future buys & Youtube channel.

Rust is usually the biggest killer of Mk1 Ravs, if yours is reasonably rust free underneath then you’ll have no trouble finding someone who’ll want it.
Fifth gear wear is another issue with the manuals, it’ll start just as vibration felt through the gear lever when in fifth & accelerating & it’ll get worse till it eventually gets so bad it’ll jump out of gear.
That’s not a disaster though as you can buy the bits off eBay (genuine new Toyota upgraded parts) & remove a cover on the end of the gearbox without having to take the box out to change them.
The rust is the worst thing but if I remember right, yours wasn’t too bad in that area.
The engines are even “safe” in terms of the cam belt snapping shouldn’t damage the engine.
I had three Mk1 Ravs & one Mk2 Rav in my time.
The Mk1’s whilst having the odd niggle were reliable & never let me down.
My last one was just too rusty in the end but still drove perfectly.
The Mk2 was a disaster.
Nice looking top spec early “W”-reg car but loads & loads of faults. Turned out to be almost as rusty as the “W”-reg Mk1 it replaced (foolishly I bought it blind online based on description).
In hindsight I should have just kept the Mk1 & refurbished it as I had to do all the same jobs & more on the Mk2.
Anyhoo, I’m rambling now.
Best of luck with the cars, & look forward to future updates on the Panda & Aixam

It’ll handle better than it currently does with two different size tyres on the back, neither of which the same width as what’s on the front!

The RAV4 has been sitting around for ages because I’ve been busy and because it needed the tax class changing from disabled - given the chaos at DVLA for anything sent to them on paper due to COVID-19, I never bothered. Today, I sent it for a MOT because it expires tomorrow. It passed with just a couple of minor advisories - ball joint dust boots and slightly corroded front discs/fluctuating service brake. No doubt those brake issues caused by sitting around.
They even sent me some live action shots for some reason
It’s now taxed, tested and the V62 for the tax class change is in the post.
Immediate plan for it is to lend it to my FiL so that I can service and MOT my UN-spec Dacia Duster Access that he normally drives - I’ve owned it from brand new in 2017 so planning on doing some “long term ownership” type stuff with it.

That Panda is brilliant. Missed out on a Marbella a few years back and it reminds me of it. Nearly as basic as my Minor (nearly!)
It really is a fantastic thing. I need to get it running a little better so I can stick it in for a test and start the registration process. Toaster Pilot said:

my old mum would love that, she had an old one that she loved until it died, she's never found anything else that suits her dodgy hips sinceToday, I sent it for a MOT because it expires tomorrow.
