It seems as though all other models could get a heating package (including steering wheels), but AMG owners couldn't spec one for this model!
The E55 AMG wheel is unique due to the shift buttons and their associated little labels on the front. Odd the range topper didn't have the option, but I guess complexity or a wiring limitation maybe was the cause. Although highly specced to begin with, there were a lot of options on these cars. You could rack some serious money up in options. However it does seem a lot of new buyers were actually quite shrewd with picking what they particularly wanted, and despite some sellers best efforts at bigging cars up, I don't think I have ever truly seen a "fully loaded" example.
For example Ross' car has the pretty rare heated rear seats, and cooled front seats. Mine has neither, but then original owner on mine splashed out on the £1300 Radar Cruise, and Rear Seat TV. All the options on mine cost £10k (in 2004), and its probably the same value on this one. But if you really wanted to tick absolutely everything and venture into the Designo range of customisation you could quite easily add £30k+ (half the price of the car!) again!
(focuses on Saloons and US market but this is a pretty cool video for options geeks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkwhRfNLwhc)
Ross, thanks for the interesting read. Currently thinking about what to do about my E39 530i (it needs bodywork) and whether to get something a bit newer. Depending on the day I sometimes think something more frugal, and then I see posts like this...
Always loved the W211 shape, such a classic, but have always avoided it due to reports of unreliable and expensive issues being common. Sounds like in 2020 this might not be such an issue anymore when compared to similar vintage cars?

I love AMGmiesters videos. Didn't realise they could be had in so many great colours. The barolo red I've only seen on a E320, that Sahara gold is fabulous but I'd probably have picked the mocha black with caramel nappa.
+1 Their videos are fantastic.
LegitStreetCars is another great E55 channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glBGDU2gb30 - Alex is an ex Mercedes master technician also.

I LOVE the E39 530i, had a few in sport guise, in some ways I preferred them to my E39 M5s. The E39 in general is a fantastic old thing and I still find myself perving over the late champagne & aegean edition cars. I think the E39 is slightly the better drive than the 211, maybe Always loved the W211 shape, such a classic, but have always avoided it due to reports of unreliable and expensive issues being common. Ive run a few 211s in the past few years and yes they can have issues like any old german barge, the cost of those issues is definitely alot less than they used to be, SBC etc.
This is my 04 7 seater Wagon. Picked it up 2 years after selling my 2019 C43 estate which was tuned. Did about 16 K miles in that including some track days and drag racing, as well as daily duties!
Fancied a bigger, comfier old school AMG with a V8.
The M113K is definitely one of their best.
Mine had only 52K on the clock, and I've added just 6K miles on it on 2 years. Need to get some long road trips in it next year , perhaps to Europe hopefully.
I have upgraded the weak intercooler pump, fitted a bigger heat exchanger, front lowering links and C63 mufflers along with X pipe.
Sounds absolutely glorious under load.
Issues so far just the factory fuel pumps with integrated sock filters were blocked, causing shorting of the pump fuses. So had the pumps, fuel sender and harness all relaxed/ updated.
Next plan to get new/ upgraded mounts and would like an LSD.
I don't daily it as much as I my 2002 Carrera 4S for that job. Its easier to park and more economical 😅
