Wow, what a thread!

I have little to add other than to say I am very impressed with the finds, you need your own show on Quest so I have something else to watch Sunday mornings other than a fella from North Wales finding random antiques and creaming his pants over old scabby arm chairs!

I discovered that the Skoda was leaking oil at an alarming rate and after checking the oil level found it was showing as over-filled on the dipstick.

Knowing what the likely issue would be I drained the oil and removed the mechanical fuel pump from the side of the engine, the diaphragm had perished and was leaking petrol into the engine causing the oil level to increase and the oil to become thin enough to leak out of every seal!
I fitted a new fuel pump, filter and oil filter and changed the oil which made a massive difference.
Also fitted a generic chrome air filter as it was missing the original air filter housing and has had an SU carb chucked on there.

Next job was to replace the wiper stalk.

New stalk came with strange foreign coffee biscuit.

I even took some rubbish to the recycling centre and got some bemused looks from the staff as I emptied the rubbish out from under the bonnet.

There's a few videos over on my Youtube channel of the same name if anyone cares to watch how rubbish the car is, can't post links here.

I think I’d like to know more about the 505.
I feel so dirty.
The 505 is a 2.5 turbo diesel automatic.

It's the Peugeot indenor engine which was fitted to a bunch of different things over the years including Ford Sierra's and Sherpa 400's and boats, very popular boat engine!

Recently had to have the radiator re-cored at the cost of £300 as new radiators for these don't seem to exist, radiators for manual cars were available but it meant running a separate transmission oil cooler which seemed a bit of a faff.

I've been using it to A-frame various cars, I picked up a Citroen C2 GT with it.

When towing the C2 I noticed the battery light was illuminated so had a quick look under the bonnet.

IMG_20211006_135741229_HDR by srblythe, on Flickr

Belts everywhere! It has 4 separate belts, one for the alternator, power steering, water pump and brake booster, all of them relatively old and one of the alternator one missing/shredded. The car still made it home fine.

The C2 I bought for £200 with the sole purpose of rallying to death around a field in a local unofficial event.

Some pics from the last one.

I imagine the real "shedders" on this forum will be crying about the wanton destruction of these "modern" sheds!

Yesterday I picked up a local shed, spotted the advert on Gumtree with no photos and a short description which basically said long mot, drives fine and rust and was advertised at £350.

IMG_20211102_151741866 by srblythe, on Flickr

The previous owner had owned it for 12 years, replaced the cambelt at 100k and had replaced the front sub-frame with a brand new one and replaced the rear arms which also had a tendency to rust. There was a stack of service history with it and he said he was the 3rd owner of the car. Interior was clean and tidy. I thought it looked ok and with mot until August next year it could be the perfect car to destroy over winter.
The seller forgot to mention in the advert that the rear tyres lose air over a period of time so knocked another £30 off, I would have happily paid the £350 but £320 was better.
I didn't bother test driving it, just filled in the v5, insured it and off I went. I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely it drives, I do however feel like a bit of a fraud driving a brand new 2003 Ford Focus but I learned from last year having a Mini of similar vintage that it's nice to have a generic shed that I don't have to care about destroying through a harsh Scottish winter.

It really is quite crusty! I don't imagine I'll be putting in any effort to weld it but you never know...

So in September I stopped shedding.

Now we've reached, November. 4000 miles into ownership, My over priced modern car has decided to behave like a fking shed.
Battery is fecked. But that's understandable.
But this

A tiny pin hole in the side of the coolant reservoir.

Lucky both can be obtained cheaply. Job for lunch time tomorrow in.the car park at work.....is the coolant reservoir.

Trade insurance. it's expensive but takes minutes to log in and add another car to the policy.

Carried out some towing with the LDV taking the 205 to a local garage to do all of the fiddly jobs I can't be bothered with such as changing the clutch cable and swapping the rear beam.

Mot is out on the 505 so started making preparations for its test next week and found some rot to deal with.

Should be straight forward making repair panels but it is a worry welding next to a plastic fuel tank so have jammed some wood in to try shielding it from sparks of molten metal.

Fired right up and driving fine.

More welding done on the 505, made up the inner panel first.

And made an outer panel which still needs a bit of dressing and paint.

Latest "Win" on eBay an incredibly rough 1996 Suzuki Samurai Sport for £180, it's utterly hanging and doesn't run but the chassis is good and it had the original cat fitted so might be worth weighing the cat in and scrapping the body!

Agreed, you have to trawl through some early 2000s dross.
Often these cars are listed incorrectly in eBay and hence don’t get many views. Many have had classic car bubble price increases though.
