(Except Mk2s, dunno why).
I can understand that as my first car in 1976 was a four-door 1967 MK2 1500 with vinyl seats and rubber mats on the floor. A total rust-bucket, even if it did have a 1600E wooden dash.

In my teens I wanted the newest version I could afford, but with the benefit of hindsight I should have bought a good MK1 as they were so much better looking.

"November I bought a Cinquecento. It seemed to missing a first gear so I sold it the next day."

This gave me a proper laugh.

What a collection of heaping pile of crap on four wheels in this thread. Love it

Great thread. Hats off to you! I have to say I am still a little amazed at how many cars you have had.

I’d be interested to know how you are faring in the current market, I’m guessing there’s far fewer cars at a hundred, up to 500 than a few years ago. As far as I can tell, cars that would have been £250 a few years back are more like £500 up now. That said, I’d imagine that you make more at the point of sale now too.

I have just seen a ‘91 Golf on AT for £400 in Kirkcudbright, maybe for you? laughlaugh

I have an irritating itch (this thread has exaggerated it somewhat! laugh ) which I will be scratching soon when I get my shed/workshop and start my collection. While I can appreciate some of the cars you’ve had, I’m more of a fan of 15-25 year old cars, I don’t mean to sound rude, but a may be a generational thing given I’ve grown up around mid ‘90’s - 00’s cars, hence being my preference. I don’t think I’ll ever have your ability though. I think there are quite a few of us who are a little envious of what you have achieved, but nevertheless are very grateful to your contribution to the motoring world.
Great work on the Chevette, I hope you can get it on the road soon.

I sold the c90 for £1500 and bought a Suzuki TS 50 for £1600.

I think I underestimated just how dreadfully slow a 50cc bike would be with a man of my size and weight riding it so sold it a week later for £1500.

I agreed to drop the bike off to the new owner using the 504 pickup to transport it but noticed a low brake fluid warning light. On closer inspection it was weeping from the clutch slave which is strange because I had already replaced it once before.
I ordered another slave cylinder which was cheap and easy to fit with just a couple of bolts holding it on and discovered a small crusty hole in the passenger side floor.

Which turned to a large hole in the floor plus inner and outer sill.

It looks like a lot of the truck was wobbed up and resprayed a few years ago and is now starting to show through, I'll just have to keep using it and doing a bit at a time and try keeping it solid.

These small areas of rust turn into massive holes when cleaning it back to solid metal.

I bought another moped for £400, it's actually quite sprightly, previous owner derestricted it so it would do 40mph.

This popped up for sale, I don't think I'd ever seen this shape corolla in estate form so I bought it. It's quite a nice driving car since changing the front discs and fitting a new set of tyres. It's a 1.3 16v efi, it's not particularly fast but it goes well for the size of it.

Also bought a mk1 MX5 for £320.

It was really quite rusty so sold it for £500

Also bought this at the start of the week but it's not really me so hopefully it'll be sold today.

I work Monday to Thursday which leaves me plenty of time to mess around with cars Friday to Sunday.

It was on Gumtree. There was a reason it was so cheap. It was incredibly rusty, engine smoked like a chimney, clutch was slipping and interior was wrecked.

I removed the engine from the bx and sold it for £350 which was around what the car owed me so scrapped the rest.

I'm planning on fixing the LDV, I have finished the welding on the drivers side step, cross member, inner and outer sills.
Passenger side step is done but it needs a lot of the sill repaired around where the side door roller sits and loads around the inner sills.
I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

Managed to sell the Cortina, dealt with some amount of morons before a genuine buyer got the train up from Essex and handed over £4200 for it.
Old school Ford fans are the worst.

I took the 504 up to Fort William to buy another top quality motorcycle, I already have an east German MZ so thought it would be cool to have the Czechoslovakian equivalent CZ. It has 4 gears and the kickstart also doubles up as the gear lever.

Also sold the SLK bought for £700, drove it a couple of times and sold for £1200, not bad.
