Nice car! My missus had one of these when it was nearly new. A fabulous car as an easy to live with transportation device. Nice steer too, but fords always are. It was the style model so the basic trim but nothing ever went wrong on it and she kept it in great condition. Sold to my dad who then sold to his mate and I think it's still in their family now.

Hope you enjoy yours OP, I'm sure you will smile

I've been using the scooter for the past few days just to keep it charged and in good order. Fired the car up today to go and collect a new fire bin, it'll be doing a tip run tomorrow and then get laid up again for the weekend. I love how convenient it is having a car, even if it is small.

The clutch slipping has been getting worse so im trying not to use it for anything more than a couple of miles. It is booked in with a small two man operated garage to have the clutch changed on Monday, they'll be fitting a LUK clutch kit for the cost of £226.

I got underneath the car to investigate the exhaust issue, It looks like it was a cheap replacement exhaust system and it has rotted at the join to the silencer. The rubber hanger has perished too and is only just holding the silencer up. A new hanger rubber is only £3.65 from the local ford dealer so ill be picking one up tomorrow. For now, I've done what i can with some JB weld with the silencer so it is near silent once again. Though it probably wont last long.

Excellent purchase OP! I learnt to drive in a 1.4 TDCI and thought it was a decent car to drive.

Holts Gun Gum works much better on exhausts than JB Weld.

Clutch replacement sounds like a good price Co pared with many cars.

Will keep that in mind for any future repairs, JB weld was just what i had in the shed for a quick temporary solution. Hoping to get a new silencer section sometime next week.

I thought that too, I had 30+ quotes on the site i used to sort it ranging from £200-£600 so its not the cheapest quote i had from the lot but its the lowest with reviews of the garage that are quite good. I know the MILs car had the clutch done last year and it cost £350.

I wanted one of these so badly when we were looking to get a cheap runaround 2 months ago. I couldn't find any at the lower end of my budget, so eventually went for a 1.1 Fiat Panda with very low miles. Nice car, but not as good to drive as the Fiesta. The petrol Fiesta's really are good fun to throw around. Should the Panda not last long, or my car has any big issues, a 1.4 Fiesta mk6 will be at the top of my list!

Best of luck with yours OP.

The first car I bought back in 2003 was a 1.4 fiesta.

17 years later I have another. Great little car.

Those who have them, keep them.
They do the job very well. We once used ours for a family weekend away to the Lakes. Even the boot is reasonably big.

With a hands free phone kit and a plug in DAB, it is modernised enough.

That's the only bugbear with mine now. Lack of Spotify/dab.

Easily remedied, but I'm lazy : hehe:

The head unit is actually something im looking at changing, the lack of bluetooth/aux connectivity and having to listen to Radio1 to/from work instead of my own music because its the only station that has consistent signal has been bugging me. I've never liked listening to radio stations.

£20 for a double din cage/fascia kit and ill probably end up going with a £35-£40 cheapo head unit from ebay. Not the best out there but would solve that issue for me.

I have a Mk6 1.4 that me and the wife use for everyday duties, had it about 10 months now and up until today it's been faultless. However whilst driving home from work this evening i started to get a clicking sound from the clutch pedal, as i was travelling through traffic light controlled roadworks at the time I was unable to pull over to investigate and had no choice but to keep on going. Well 30 seconds later I went for a gear change, the clutch pedal hit the floor and stayed there. Luckily for me I was close to a side road and 2 blokes from the cars behind helped me push it into said side street. Upon further investigation the master cylinder pushrod had snapped so the master cylinder will need to be replaced.

Looking at google it would appear this problem is not uncommon, apparently the retaining clip that holds the pushrod to the clutch pedal pin wears and falls off thus allowing the pushrod to work itself free of the pin. Some people are lucky and the pushrod detaches itself from the pin without breaking so only requires reconnecting others like my are unfortunate enough to have the pushrod snap.

Might be a good idea to get your head down under the clutch pedal and check if the retaining clip is still in place, if it's not I would suggest replacing it asap, I think they are about 50p from Ford, but they will eventually wear and fall off again. I have chose a more permanent solution which was £3.48 from Ebay.

Happy shedding.

I seem to remember my old one had that issue with the clutch pedal when it was only two or three years old.

Creaking and clicking on the way down.

Easier solution: https://www.amazon.co.uk/VICTSING-Transmitter-Hand... The stepson and OH both have units that look like this in their cars. Work perfectly. Plus...easier to swap into another vehicle if needed.

You connect to it via bluetooth. Then it transmits FM (on a frequency of your choosing). You tune the car radio to the same FM frequency that it's transmitting on.

Voila, you can stream music from your phone, to the device, which then transmits to the radio in the car.

Oh, I see.

Right.

Thank you.

I don't do emojis, but is there one with a bloke walking away, scratching his head with a puzzled look on his face?

It's a wotsit that plugs into the fag lighter that lets you play music from your phone through the car radio.
