Its on 150k. Engine seems solid. Being critical, its a tiny bit lumpy when cold but clears up after 20 seconds or so.
I've found that it's hard to over state how effective a bit of red ex (or similar product) and a real good thrashing can do for a car. Especially on a diesel. Diesel injectors have a very important job of atomising the fuel and when getting a little old the injector can become less effective with small particles of dirt causing that spray pattern to be compromised. Could also be fuel filter if it's never been changed but I'd start with the easier cheaper options first. Having read up on these cars the engineering is really quite remarkable and is genuinely class leading. When looking at what you've got and the money you've got it for it's hard to match in my eyes. Edited to amend typo

Either way, the injectors are fine. no smoke and clears up after a few seconds. Its likely a couple of glow plugs not working as effectively as they once did.

Brave man, how much in the war chest, as these seem very expensive to run..
Nudda. Zip.Its a car for shedding, that said if it needs something it will get it. The big consumables have already been done. Nearly new tyres, disks, pads, battery etc...
I have treated it to a new eBay special key though. One of the two keys (yes, I got two keys with it) doesn't work. suspect its just a flat battery (these auto-charge from the ignition) I will re-case it and put a new battery on and see what happens.

Does redex even do anything? I have never noticed any difference and put it down as snake oil serum.

Can be hit and miss but I've seen it work a number of times on a few diesels (mainly old landy based stuff) and also seen it give power gains to a petrol car that wasnt necessarily showing any trouble per say. To be fair I suspect you may be right with the glow plugs but i thought as soon as they look like they're starting to get tired they throw a code. I've been wrong before though! Got one exactly same as yours, except it has the 2010~ front and rear facelift.
Mine is on 151k now. Had it 14 months. In that time a front suspension bag split. Managed to sort that out for £120.
Problems on the horizon are a leaking injector - probably return pipe.
Water leak from V, probably cracked thermostat housing.
Even with that it’s one of the more reliable cars I’ve owned.
Beautiful cars to drive and was mega in last weeks floods - just raised it up and off we went!
