You should seriously consider paying a bit extra and asking them to fit an updated clutch as I bet the new one will still slip. They are made out of chocolate.

A couple of people have mentioned this yes. They replaced it in March in the week of sale. I’m OK 9 months in and am keeping an eye on it. If it was to go I’d look at Sachs sintered clutch I think - and a remap. Any recommendations welcomed.

Just love this car OP.

Mrs Dunc has a Golf 7. 1.4 GT 150.
They just do everything so well. And the 7 just looks ‘right’.

A manual 7 in black looks very, very cool and suitably understated. Top work that man!

Lovely car OP.

I did 20k / 3.5 years in its predecessor, the 6R, and it never once let me down. They just do everything so well.

Wow! A new clutch and leaking coolant on such a young car? It sounds hammered!

Nice car OP.

Shame you’ve had a few issues, but at least be warranty has covered it, my Cooper S was a bit similar, low mileage but had a few issues which were luckily sorted easily enough under warranty.

The Mk7 Golf is indeed a compelling package, size wise, performance wise etc. The R and GTI TCR were both on my shortlist but I went with the slight more compromised M140i.

Or poorly built.

Both are well-known issues, neither of which show that the car has been ‘hammered’.

Luckily the OP had them both fixed gratis.
