Great little car and write up, i remember these from when i was a lad, now 50, well done on keeping her going!!!
Same here. Mum had a 104ZS thanks to my dad being friendly with the local Peugeot dealer (Bill Bray of Woodhead and Bray in Thirsk) - I think the deal was done over much beer and IIRC, Bill couldn't shift the ZS as no-one wanted a 'sporty' car in the early 80s so dad got it for a good price (and no doubt there was some quid pro quo going on too).My mate at the time's mum had an LNA so naturally I had the cooler mum - The ZS even had a digital clock up by the rear view mirror - Space Age!
Excellent read and I fully agree with all the previous comments especially the ones regarding the interior.
I learnt to drive in a Renault 4, passed through a renault 8 and then my mum had a 106.
Throughout that time my dad had a succession of Citroen company cars such as CX, Bx, Xantia and a zx volcane.
Great trip down memory lane.
Enjoy

Just found this post,
My first car was an LNA 11RE, I loved that car, bought for £250 with only 2700 miles on the clock! Cant remember the reg sadly, be good to know if it was still around. I remember on my first trip out to the go surfing in South Wales the gear stick came off, quick split pin and was ok again.
I remember the seats unclipped and could be put in back to front so the passenger could face the rear seats (useful for getting boards in the car, or you could open the back door and sit facing outwards with the rear seats turned around.
Mine didn’t have a hydraulic strut to keep the boot lid open and instead had a citroen branded stick with a wingnut half way up so you could slide it apart and use it to prop the door open… which if you knocked the stick out would land on your head. I don’t know if this was the same on other models or just peculiar to mine.
I remember i was broken into once and for a while unable to find a replacement window anywhere we used a plywood one until eventually we were able to fin one in a scrappy in the forest of dean.
Mine was white, blue seats and that weird steering wheel that would flex if you braked too hard lol, no stereo so had a tape deck on the passenger seat. I drove it for several years and it went everywhere! The suspension was independent i think. Such a fun little car to drive! Fun to see the 104 rally car.
Eventually sold mine as I inherited a BX turbo (what a bag of crap!).
