Great left field car, but it's got me wondering what happened to that slightly mental poster/troll who was always on about his Legacy R Spec and posting really boring dashcam footage of him lane hogging and frothing at the mouth about how he dominated a BMW 320d driving 900 yards behind when the driver was clearly just drinking his coffee and thinking about the cricket?
Eric something? Still around I think, but has calmed down on the weird stuff i think!
Oh god, have I joined his club now? eek
Not unless you start suggesting a Legacy in the next 'what supercar should I buy' thread!
Seriously? Really? I remember taking on a Porsche in a stage tuned 2.3T aero hot Saab. The Porsche left me for dust comprehensively

The guy was totally bonkers. Whatever car someone had, or was considering, or wanted to talk about he would come in the thread and bang on about how much better his two grand Subaru Arse Peck was for XYZ bullst reasons, and if the subject was BMWs he'd start foaming at the mouth. It was just a NASP three litre with ~230bhp or so, a decent enough £2k shed but perhaps not the be all and end all of motoring that he felt it was. He briefly challenged 300bhp/ton as the most deluded and quarrelsome poster on PH, but I think the crown has now been reclaimed. He shared endless 10 minute videos of him sitting in L3 getting in the way too, to make a point that I was never entirely clear on.

I personally think it's quite sad when someone can't enjoy their car for what it is and has to tell themselves (and PH) stories about dominating a 320d down a slip road, or how a car with literally twice the power wouldn't be as quick A to B on a road that was only open to Subarus.

A week and a half now with the Legacy. Very pleased with it. Have been using it backwards and forwards to work, even had a little snooze in it the other morning (night shift) and took this as the sun came up.

Wacked some new wiper blades on today

Also swapped the stereo only to find out it's not plug and play due to coding issues, so back in went the Japanese one. Also found out the nav that was included is a 6 pin version, when my car needs a 5 pin version. Thankfully found the correct one for sale on eBay so awaiting delivery of that, along with a replacement surround for it. ETA is Friday for both. I don't even want the nav, but I want the extra dials it provides.

Also took this photo today, but couldn't cope with the plate being so low, so repositioned it. Much better!

Apart from that, love the car. Seems to use much more fuel that the Volvo.....it's quicker tho!

It's a beaut. After four Subaru's over the years I'm at the new junction I decided on a new shape VW Passat estate. It looks nice, drives ok... But is more grown up for once.

We used to have an outback in this shape, loved that car. It needed about another 150 hp and slightly firmer suspension, so one of these sounds perfect.

I was always impressed with the build quality underneath, and even after 160k miles it was still driving really well. The only thing that let it down was the other half running it low on oil!

I'm starting to miss mine now.
Does your have the reclining seats in the rear? Really handy for napping.

I think it does, not tried yet as kids seats, but have 3 nights this week so might try it out during my break!

Disappointingly my replacement nav unit arrived today. Despite asking and them confirming it has 2x5 rows of pins on the back, it did in fact have 2x6.

I'm now questions if I've got the wrong plug or something as I cannot find another 5 pin unit.

Can I ask a favour of any Legacy owners who are reading this, especially those with imported versions. Would you be able to remove the nav (it's really easy and quick) and let me know how many pins your nav has? I'm trying to work out if the 5 pin thing is Japanese specific or if I've got the wrong plug....

Best asking on the Facebook group as well mate.

Mine came with some ropey Android unit and I've upgraded to an Atoto A6 Pro. My wiring had been butchered and had to cut it all back and wire in the new harness that came with the unit.

Edit: I see you've already asked

I've always had a thing about Japanese cars in white, with dark wheels. It harks back to Gran Turismo 3. Every car I purchased was white, with black wheels but in the real world I'd never managed it, until today. Wheels are Oz Prodrive in 18s. Previous wheels were 17s. Might be a bit cliché, but I think it looks awesome.

Well I'm just glad someone bought it so we don't need to suffer Ericmcns ranting! nerd

What’s the performance of these like once up to 300bhp? Is the auto box a limiting factor?

Thanks both. I'm pretty happy with the look, took me ages to finally go for it.

Think you dodged a bullet there, heard nothing good about the diesel engine.

I believe a simple remap should get close to 300 without any adverse effects. I've not seen anything bad about the gearbox tbh.

Guessing that they’re similar to a wrx in performance?

One of the new wheels are missing a centre cap, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to grab a new set. Can't be tricky can it?

Apparently I was wrong.

I grabbed these from eBay

They arrived today and I went out to pop them on, except they don't fit. FFS. They don't seem to click home, and when lining them up against an original it's easy to see why.

I did however seem to get the right diameter (56mm) which I guess is a bonus. M600 is stamped on the back of the originals.

A virtual pint to anyone who can find me some which actually fit!

Looks fantastic. A great choice for the rims! I can't help but think a very modest ride height drop might complete the look smile
