So, if it's based on a specific mass, how does the commercial system know how much refigerant is in the system (or does it discharge and then recharge from empty)?
Yeah, exactly. It will recover any refrigerant from the system and weigh what it's recovered; generally they're pretty poor and won't recover everything. Then it will pull a vacuum on the system to boil off any moisture in the system and hold the vacuum to check the system is leak free; this is a rubbish way to detect leaks and they'll often tell you that a very leaky system is tight. Finally it will charge the system with whatever mass of refrigerant has been specified.

Lovely car OP.

I too was hunting for a V8 R8 this time last year, then man maths prevailed and I ended up in a 2010 manual V10 coupe.

I'm 10mths/2k miles into ownership and it's been great so far - I should probably do a readers ride thread as I've done a bit of tinkering with it already... scratchchin

I was the same earlier this year. Didnt mind if I got a V8 or V10 so long as it has a manual box, carbon sideblades and a black interior. Ended up with a 2011 V10 in white.
I had an aircon issue when I got the car. Would turn on the button and it would not stay on. Thought it may be a low level or aircon sensor below pass side headlight. The selling garage found a leaking pipe in the pass side wheelarch which seems to have sorted it. It got pretty got in the cabin with the engine behind you.

Not an Audi fan myself, but . . . .but, I have had a close up look at the R8, a close up listen and a close up experience of being overtaken by an R8.

It saddens me to say that my biase against Audi cannot be extended to the R8.
I'd have one, in a heartbeat.

Thanks for sharing,,,pleasant reading. Lovely vehicle colour & trim.

Not wising to cause conflict with trade seller, however, if I bought from a trader as a retail sale then I would be inviting the seller to sort or pay to sort the a/c,(if not working since sourced).... unless the fault was pre-sale disclosed & factored into the deal.

Hi all,

Car has been in for a detail this week. I collect it tonight but some pictures from my detailer below:

And a final image taken pre-detail...

Tomorrow the car goes in to REP for a carbon clean and top gear performance exhaust. After that I will be done spending money for a while!
Divine detail! An amazing company, the guy who runs it is a legend. Anyone in the south wanting detail work needs to go to him. He drives an R26R too.

Love your R8, that’s a beautiful car.
