Got touch up paint, new rear glass and some some new bonnet struts (£3 each from ECP amazingly) so his car will look minty fresh on Sunday.

My car, just looks like a sad rusty block of metal with an obnoxiously loud engine (can't say exhaust because it doesn't really have one).
Hope the bonnet struts are not as "enthusiastic" as the ones I ordered...bonnet was like a spring loaded trap! biggrin

Front bumper is a pre facelift item, 98-01 MY

Struts make the world of difference, sounds like a bargain from ECP!

First problem has popped up.
Engine light on and my reader is suggesting a misfire on number 3.

Will have to have a look at it but it doesn't seem to run any different than before.

They are twin plug, so possible someone has cheaped out and never bothered to change them.

My ML55 has 16 plugs. Swapping them out is a joy. Rear ones are painful. Easier to remove the drivers wheel / liner to reach them. Swap the coils and see if the misfires follows it. Coil packs are £50 on Ebay. However, dont buy the chinese cheap ones.

Ive got to replace my plugs in a few months. Had them in there now for 30K which is about right for platinums.

Im now suffering from disintegrating cat. I had to replace my passenger's side cat, now my drivers is rattling around. Eventually then completely knock / smash themselves away.

ML Owner adventures :-) all fun.

£140 for some plugs. No wonder!

Haven't looked but hope they're not a pain in the arse to change with the lpg system fitted.

Remove the wheel liner? Didn't realise they were so low down.

Yep!

Luckily it's that much of a pain to get out, and everything is much easier with it removed.

So the passenger side is a doddle?

I swapped out my plugs without moving the liner at first, was a difficult hand scratching job.

I then had to remove my drivers wheel and liner to fix a suspension issue and then noticed that the rear 3/4 plugs where viewable and far easier to remove.

So next time I will do that.

Going to an lpg place tomorrow to get them to look at why the system is t working correctly.

In other news, I need to attach something to the exhaust as it drones far too much and doing a 300 mile round trip every other weekend isn't going to be fun.

Can't seem to find a box/silencer etc anywhere.

Any cheapo solutions?

Universal clamp on backbox and coat hanger wire.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264375341387

Something like this, just see what size your pipes are.

A backbox in the middle of the car? Would that work?

Oh are you looking to go to the back? Thought you just wanted to basically cap off the pipe where it is currently.

If there is space then it can happily sit in the middle of the car.

The 2 pipes underneath the car, just want to put something there to stop the droning.

Then as long as there is space to fit backboxes in there then its fine. Dont get like a 3" into 5" type of box or the noise wont get better.

Yeh they'll be space as the centre box I took out was probably about 750mm long.
It's 2 pipes so I'll have to measure the distance between the 2 and try and find a way to buy one that has 2 in one out.

Is a silencer a silencer? Found one for a ml350 but no idea how they'd be different.

(That's too much to spend by the way)

This is the one that seems to be used in America.

So seems to be a 2 1/2 inlet/outlet.

My question is, obviously it doesn't have any hangers and it'll be too much weight to hang off the 2 pipes so how can I secure it?

Should I not have 2 fans infront of the radiator?
