Looks quite respectable, what was the process, rust kill, fill, prime paint or get the worst off and run a black marker pen over it ?
Done both over the years, as long as it doesnt draw the eye its all good.
Scraper, screwdriver, wire brush and hammerite in the end. All visible parts were then painted in the remainder bit of proper mercedes paint I had. Done both over the years, as long as it doesnt draw the eye its all good.
Still need to lacquer the visible points at some point but i'm looking out of my office window staring at a very big black cloud..

Could you not run a second pipe from just behind the other exhaust tip basically behind the bumper rather than from further back? Not sure you would want too nor make it look better but it is a option.
I don't actually want anything visible so hoping to just have no tip showing ( ) This is what I keep seeing everyone has used but I can't find it or anything similar in the UK.

If you just want some noise on the cheap unbolt the back box?
I had a bmw 730i v8 where I just removed the exhaust from center box back, gave me a loud rumble and easy to put back for mot.
Whole car was £300 so refused to spend a penny on it yet needed noise.
Edit: if you still want a back box but noise then you could go for the old school cherry bomb for cheap

I just assumed doing things like that would make it sound like a wet fart.

Don't worry about a X-pipe if it's too much of a pain.
The internet quite liked my LS400 on seperate pipes per bank back in the day:
Haha. That's a bit louder than what I want. Bloody rain has meant I haven't been able to waste an hour of my life working out why I can't remove the back box.The internet quite liked my LS400 on seperate pipes per bank back in the day:
I'm a bit less confident when it comes to things like cutting the exhaust so can anyone assist with the steps?
I'll need to cut the brackets holding the pipes to the back box, can I use a grinder or even my multi tool for this?
Will I blow myself up?
In doing this, will it make it drone like crazy inside?

Worst job ever!
Thankfully my neighbour (the fire one) pretty much done it.
Amazingly, it's actually quiet on tick and unless accelerating, it makes no noise.
When you floor it, it sounds like thunder!!
