Nice to have somewhere to keep all the bits that fall off during a journey.

Operation 'fk you rust' is complete!
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it's come out.
By the time I actually drive it again, it probably won't start but atleast the rust is hidden.

A thread like this is smooch better than one with the OP bragging about a posh new car.

Keep up the updates, they are brilliant!

Top, top work Rich! Brilliant shedding. A running (ish) and driving V8 for £700? Can't sniff at that!

Don't take of all these wusses saying you've done wrong, they know nothing! laugh

Also great job on the rust repair, I'd never even have considered something like that. Suppose it makes it easier that its black over a coloured car, easy to match black to black, than red to another red.

Thanks.

If this was any other colour than black, I don't really know what I would've done.

Agreed.

I suspect it was one of those situations where it felt harder to avoid buying it (although that's probably what should have happened), so the OP almost talked himself into it.

I can't wait to see the rust report on the first MOT. There's no way that thing isn't packing some serious structural rot.

I don't understand what you're trying to insinuate? It's not like I managed to punch a hole in the bottom of the door with a screwdriver when I was scraping the surface rust. whistle

I don't think there are enough photos to categorically say either way. For now, I'll go with "not promising".

I'm sharing in your misfortune, honestly. I bought a sheddy CLK430 that every part of my brain told me to walk from. Sold it 6mths later, with full disclosure, after its first trip to a specialist.

Ah that's not good. Shame when a car doesn't work out.
Just want to say, I'm very happy with this car and I'm not the sort of person to buy something unless I want it.

Now the rust, seat and door card are done, I'm very, very happy with it. Best £700 I've ever spent.

Looks solid to me. Get much newer cars in much worse state up here in the north of Scotland.

Yeh I didn't think it looked any worse than any other 19 year old car.

Thanks to covid, this gets to live until October atleast.

Body on frame. There’s quite a hefty chassis under there
