Great project, YT subbed also.

I may have missed it but why are you not carrying a spare wheel?

Yeah, you missed it biggrin
Nah, messing. Good question.
The MAN has a spare located behind the cab, but it had been taken out of the cradle to enable testing. When complete the intention is to have a frame that comes off the rear of the chassis and holds two spares. Then the area where the tyre cradle is currently (see the photo's above with the coloured arrows), will become additional storage. My plan is to create a bike rack locker. Whether that is achievable or not is another question!

I am bloody loving this. Vicarious stuff. The videos are great (I like how you're learning it all as you go), the transparency on costs is a really nice addition too - slightly unnecessary (it's nobody's business after all) but very interesting. And your enthusiasm shines through. The cab needs a cuddly toy just to offset the expanse of green steel...

Cheers Bob, thank you.

The costs are there to prove that it's not as expensive as you might at first think, and it's just sharing for the next person who's coming along behind me because the one thing I couldn't find was 'how much?'. That's mainly because it's so varied. But a lay person could sit there, look at a truck for sale and think a hundred grand? for a campervan on big tyres?
On the other hand, if you need me to do an edited version for your mrs where everything is cheap as chips, just let me know biggrin

I saw something like like this on motorway this week. Gloss grey finish with a moto x bike on the back. Looked like a newly finished job or maybe cleaned!
BIG but impressive

biggrin Don't even threaten it. I was twitching hard when you were talking about 12 grand for a 2006 30k mile bulletproof go anywhere tonka truck. I can only imagine your excitement at getting it finished.

I am almost irritated that you didn't complete it first, and then release like 10 hours of videos for binge watching in one weekend rofl

That's pretty good parking. Not much margin for error there.

I was driving through Colchester Barracks yesterday and one of these came screaming round a mini roundabout. You really don't get a fee for the size until you're looking up at one! biggrin

Really enjoying this thread, I’d love to have a go at full timing in Africa in something like this one day. It’s prompted me to dig into my album as I’ve seen a few similar trucks on my travels.

Lols, that’s Cerberus. Belongs to one of the guys in the Group. Got a very tidy military command/med box on the rear that he’s turning into accommodation. Fk knows how he gets it down that gap, I think he has to butter the sides and climb out the hatch on the roof 😂

Thanks BlueSt. I was the same. I saw a few when I was down in Southern Spain in my Defender years ago and I thought they were cool. Been on my list ever since. And here we are.

Do it. Build it. Go there. See that. You only get one chance at stuff.
