LiPo batteries? I don’t know much about them, what are their advantages?

Brave first trip, looking forward to seeing the videos of that journey.
I love your man maths to justify the cost of the trip hehe

Faster charge, longer duration of holding the charge, deeper and quicker cycle rate. Similar to having a deep cycle capacitor in ICE. Maybe, possibly, or i'm talking rubbish again..............

Loved the new video Project!!!

Thanks Boberoo. typebiggrin

@Scrump - Lithium Ion. Half the weight/size for same power (or twice the power for the same size/weight). These 200AH batteries are the same weight as the 125AH wet cell I've ordered.

But most importantly they can be discharged to 80% of their capacity. Whereas wet cell are around 50%. Finally, LiPo can manage 3,000 cycles. Which, if I used all of the power, every day, would last 10 about years. Double that of AGM deep cycle.

At £2k a pop, I wasn't going to bother. But at what I paid it was a no brainer.

This really is an excellent project.

I hope that you get good use from it. Iceland is an amazing place and even a Dacia Duster was fun, although it didn't have the heft for crossing the toughest rivers. Your truck should be able to cope with any of the river crossings.

Just watched the latest vlog and see you're off to the Faroes - we went there for a wedding a few years back and it's a really beautiful country and massively different to anywhere we'd been before. Make sure you take a small phrase book with you as Faroese isn't on Google Translate! Younger people all speak English fine but you can't rely on that with older people or outside of the capital, where I expect you'll be heading.

Indeed. One reason to go in summer. I don't expect to have much of a problem tank

When you rent a car in Iceland they specifically tell you you're not insured for river crossing, and usually have some big posters behind the counter of tourists floating off down the river in the car. Should be a problem for you biggrin

Yeah, they also give you a big spiel on basically not leaving paved or other areas obviously intended for cars. Potential for big fines if you do. I imagine you will have to consider this.

Glamping this weekend and this is on the same site. His spare tyres look a lot harder to get at than yours! Looks like the box is maybe based on an ISO container, with the twistlocks at the bottom.

ISO containers are popular. They are cheap if self building or, if you use someone like Bliss and sink 200k into your box, you can ship the box as a container and it's cheaper and safer than RoRo.

Yeah, this is a consideration. Something I need to check into as there are weight limits on bridges and stuff. Might end up going in the 'Trol and chuck a roof tent on it biggrin

I hope you have a better reversing camera/sensor system than this base model that attacked my friends wall…

It wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to be the workhorse fetching stuff for the project. But as the project is running behind, it's getting pressed into service as the defacto Overland vehicle. Well, for one trip anyway.

Show was great. Of course the weather helped, but it was a great round up of trucks.

I went with my governor to Motorcraft this week to drop off his Unimog overland camper to have some tweaks done... my god there is some impressive metal in that yard!
