Right now introductions are done, this thread will now descend into ADD madness. Basically I'll just plonk an update on which ever car I happen to be doing something to that day on here so it'll jump about a fair bit!

Bear with!

right, having got the odyssey back from the specialists following it's engine out major service I've done a quick repaint of the side badges and bought some new headlights which will remain on stock for future repaint of the car maybe.

Big shout to Mick at Diamond motors in Nottingham for the work and sorry but it'll be back later in the year for him for aircon re-commissioning later this year!

We also found a Laguna 8v gearbox in the car which accounts for the speedo reading so badly out at cruising speed. So I grabbed the spare box from the grey mk1 that's been in shed for 4 years gathering dust. Just so happens to be the correct box for the car which was lucky! Surprisingly despite doing 6 years at 300bhp including drag racing and track work it drives beautifully.....a graceful retirement for the poor old thing!

Few pics

finished off the carbon on the daily this week too by fitting genuine oz caps but bespoke reskimmed in real carbon weave.

Took the odyssey out for first proper spin since the engine out major service this evening, what a car it's become.

Engine pulls so smoothly, each gear to slots in one after the other in wondrous harmony, it's absolutely intoxicating.

She's perhaps a little too low i will admit, but the Bilstein suspension does such an admiral job that even on Derbyshires finest back roads it just soaks up the undulating surfaces and inspires such confidence.

Everything about tonight's little jaunt just reaffirms my love for these shonky little old French hatchbacks. And justification of the investment of time and money over the past 3 years. Simply sublime.

Cheers matey, they're not everyone's cuppa but I've not found anything else that floats my boat quite the same

Very nearly a disaster whilst replacing the brakes on the daily yesterday in preparation for Blyton Park trackday on Sunday.

I never usually put the axle stands on the subframe bolts, usually opting for the chassis rails. And this is a lesson in why. Jack must of dragged the car laterally across the offside jack stand when I lifted the nearside up. Was fine for about 2 hours and then suddenly heard a bang and alarm going off as I was inside having a cuppa.

So so lucky, no one and no thing injured and only damage to the car is a small crack to carbon splitter underneath where you can't see and a scuff on the ball joint which I was changing for new anyway.

Lucky lucky boy and lesson learnt, always check your back standard are secure and don't cut corners to rush things... ever

All back together now with new ball joints, discs and rc6 pads

Phew

Apologies for crap pics, screen grabs from video

Did Blyton Park Eastern circuit on Sunday for my birthday.

Car did 100.8 miles on track without skipping a beat, around 75 laps of the circuit layout that equates to. Averaged 16.9mpg for the session.

Unfortunately the tyres are ancient and basically shot, but I had a whale of a time anyway and after swapping back to the Mintex f3 pads (from totally ruined rc6) I could actually stop too which was a revelation.

Car also clicked over 216k miles on the journey there

Anyway few pics, more to follow when the Javelin ones appear on Flickr

216k and still fighting as hard as they do. A well cared for 182 is an absolute mega bit of kit.
Looks great Ben smile

Yeah, literally no reason not to keep abusing her if well maintained. The little things just love to be used.

Couple of pics from the day itself courtesy of javelin trackdays

Phenomenal. Love your phase 1 and great to see a 182 with over 200k. Proper owner.

I'd swear my 172 becomes more responsive on the track. It seems to run better if you keep it about 5000 rpm for 20 minutes.

And thanks for the tip on the solenoid seal. I replaced my suspect one yesterday.
