You mean the Extinction Rebelion peeps who have painted over Give Pease a Chance on the Viaduct that carries the Chiltern Line across the M25? Yes, dang them for ruining a good graffito.
was it not also painted on the wooden fence you could see on the south bound side of the m40?

For many years that fence, visible as you head into London, bore the message "why do I still do this every day?"

If you fancy an orgy fest of wonderful Italian cars, may I recommend l’auto et moto d’época show that takes place in Padova each October. Wonderful cars, oodles of obscure spare parts, and the delights of the old town for a fun evening enjoying the food and wine.
Highly recommended.
Flights booked smile Hopefully it still goes ahead.

Been last 2 years to Autoclassica in Milan. That's good too

Have a fab time!

I am happy to report that the 124 is already running a lot better than it was before Marco Il Mechanico attended to it. It now idles, and it feels and sounds smoother. It is noisy, but in a fun and sportivo sort of way. It really is an enjoyable car to drive.

I am still pondering tyre makes and sizes, with thanks to proper 70s car fact knower Lowtimer for his knowledge of tyre stuff.

Is it just me, or is an inability to provide a single decent photo of a car in an advert asking top dollar for a left hand drive car that has bonnet paint flatter than my arse, and with scant details of the car provided, a real putter offer?

You could get one of the two decent looking LHD ones from My name is Franco, down in the Boot, for less money including shipping, or a flight and a fun drive home.

This one sold fast - someone has taken on a resto -

I’ve got my flights and hotel booked too, and desperately hoping it’s still on this year.
This will be year 11 for me. It’s become an annual pilgrimage. Sad thing is I haven’t had an Italian car for years now, so it’s a trip down memory lane for me. It does however highlight what a mistake I made in selling my last Alfa, which was an early Giulia Sprint GT. (along with several other Alfa’s, Fiats and a Fulvia Coupe).
I will have a look out for the show in Milan. Sounds good.

Buy an Italian car while you are there, and drive it home?

I note that you occasionally see cars that were first sold into the Italian market but which were specified from new to be RHD. I wonder why people did that. I know that, pre WW2, high end coachbuilt cats were sometimes specified RHD even when for use in LHD countries, including the US, but why would someone in Italy order, say, a 124 Saloon in RHD? A green 124 Special Saloon was recently for sale - described as an Italian market RHD car.

If I was rich, I would have one classic Gran Turismo car with LHD that I would use specifically for long range glammed up European motoring.

Love this thread and excellent addition to the fleet BV!

Booking Padova now too, at least as long as the Alfa 164 is still vaguely roadworthy in October...

I don't think that's flat paint, I think that's frost from a morning photo in winter! Even worse!

You may be right, but it's still not a great ad, especially when the seller is asking the same sort of money as dealers ask.

For example, check out what this LHD BC car looks like - I think perhaps my favourite frontal design of the three variants.

Re tyres, I’ve Pirelli P3000 fitted to the Spider. For me, they’re a sporty tyre befitting of the era, and upholds the pasta munching roots of Turin. I can’t say I ever push them hard, but they’re fine in wet and squeal nicely in the dry (Mine are 185/70/13)

I would prefer Pirellis, but at present cannot find them in 185/70 13, which is the desired size. One supplier says that it will have them in "August/September", which in car person speak means "maybe January, maybe never". So I may have to get something else.

I take back what I said a few pages ago about the facelift chronology, I'd forgotten about that second front end restyle - very tidy and elegant.

That other 124 for sale with the 'flat' paint on the bonnet has been sale for ages, some decent photos would certainly help it shift though.

Regarding new tyres - have you thought about splashing out on another set of wheels, ie: deeper dished Cromos with more rubber...? Just a thought as I'm sure you already love the wheels it came with. (For me they'd need to fill the arches a bit more, that's all wink).

Just watched the trailer for the Agnelli film - looks fab. There's a period road test somewhere of a Dino Coupe where the writer mentions kidnap threats to the Agnelli family, Italy was a proper political hot bed in those days. Even Lamborghini suffered from Communist capers going on inside his factories, it was one of the reasons the Urraco development and production took so long to get going and it almost brought the factory to its knees at one point.

That’s a bugger on obtaining P3000s, my 70’s tyre knowledge is somewhat limited.

Lovely looking Fiat.
My daughter thinks they are called Flat.
She may well get one for her first owned car.
I am planning to teach her to drive on the roads in my Montecarlo, she has driven a few times on track at Knockhill and has picked up the basics.
