Small world!

They are great cars, and thanks very much for the kind wishes. I’ll keep an eye out for your email and please do come and drive the Alfa sometime. I often run it down the B4011 and end up in Thame.

Someone near Thame has or had a very beautiful 1960s Lancia GT in dark blue, I am not sure which model. When not in London, I live five miles the London side of Thame, and go there to shop and eat pizza. I must take the Fiat, and also my Moto Guzzi V50 Monza, along the swoopy road from Long Crendon towards Bicester, past Brill.

Once the Fiat has had its carb done and has good tyres on it, let's meet up and swap driving experiences, and ditto when my Lancia Beta has its new clutch.

Yes, let’s.

The B4011 is the technical name for that swoopy bit of road! A proper gem, although my wife had a big accident on it and there are a couple of corners that do collect the occasional biker.

The road is indeed an attraction for the Ninja and Fireblade crew. I am an ooooold and slooooow biker on an early 80s Italian bike that is not fast by modern standards. Fear keeps me out of the hedge, I hope, but there is of course always the risk of bloke in Fiesta who does not see you. I suit the Hell up even for the shortest and slowest rides.

Yesterday the Fiat 124 was pressed into service as an ambulance when my house cleaner fell down my stairs and badly sprained her ankle, thought she had broken it, and had to go to A and E. I took her there in my modern car, but because it has only hamster sized rear seats I collected her from hospital with her friend later so that her friend could retrieve the cleaner's Polo from my house and drive her home. She lay in the back of the Coupe saying ouch. Luckily no fracture, and she will be back at work in two weeks.

Don't get me wrong - love the Kamms too, a mate at work is looking after one of his mate's, I think it's a '72 in need of much love.

Another quick dose of Italianate goodness.... is that a Fiat saloon of some kind on the right....?

I love this thread. Such a love in for Italian cars.
I think the car you can see on the right of the photo is an Opel Ascona with the traditional square Italian number plate.

Although I’ve been without an Italian car for a number of years, this thread has started a longing to address the matter. German reliability ain’t all its cracked up to be, and things are overly complicated now. I miss the days where you stood a fighting chance of fixing things with a paperclip, insulation tape and a can of WD40.
This is my old 1750gtv that was imported from Sicily and which I had for 15 years.
My initial plans when I bought it were to restore as standard. However, thumbing through old copies of Motorsport magazines resulted in me following a completely different path and creating a Gtam replica.
It had at some point in the past been fitted with a 2 litre engine, and so I didn’t feel as guilty turning it into a track car as the originality had already been lost in my mind by having a different engine.
Was great fun, but impractical to use regularly on the road, hence me moving it on.
Still miss it though

I think it's fair to say that the thread is morphing 'slightly sideways' and I'm probably the worst culprit - for which I halfheartedly apologise...! Every now and then someone starts a thread on PH asking if being a petrolhead will soon be a thing of the past, but It's clear that threads like this one prove otherwise.

Shall we have some more small Italians....?

I love all the going sideways!

The idea of accessorising your coat with an Alfa Spider is very splendid.

I am detecting some sort of white car vibe going on....

There is a white TVR Vixen Series Two for sale on carandclassic at present, in case your late uncle's maroon one is sold, and you feel like a continuing bit of Trevor in your life.

All the gear...., no idea.

PS: Beer AFTER Riding. I will get in a car after one drink, but I won't go near a bike after even a single drop.

I actually hate white cars. So naturally I bought two. And a white motorbike. Pfft.

As much fun as the Vixen is, I don't have the space or dosh for another classic. The Alfa does the smooth stuff, the Mini does the thrashing about stuff, the Panamera does the annoying the irritatingly sociable neighbours stuff, and the Range Rover just does stuff. I do worry I'm actually happy with what I've got!

A lot of want for your bikes though! I reckon I could squeeze one in the middle of the garage...

For a moment there I thought I'd stumbled across a 'different' sort of website....hehe

In order to restore some non leatherclad equilibrium, I give you....

I 'kin love this colour on the 105 series Coupes....!

But........ as much as I love the smaller 105s I'd have a 2600 Sprint in a heartbeat - I came across this gorgeous example at the Bristol classic show in 2011, I was completely smitten....

Very elegant styling to my biased eyes....

This thread is in danger of becoming an Italian love fest in more than one sence of the phrase

It looks like a Lancia Beta Spyder to me.
