Just picked up my first TVR. I decided I couldnt end my 20s without having owned a V8, and the Chimaera is obviously the king!

So hi I guess!

One quick question.... I will try the insurance specialists in the Insurance Wiki, but any tips on the best provider for a standard, garaged, 2nd car? Dont need trackday cover or anything.

Worth looking at Footman James. 40% discount for TVR club members, and the annual membership isn't expensive (plus you get the monthly magazine etc).

For reference we have a combined policy on our Chimaera and Tuscan, fully comp, agreed valuation on both cars, and drive to work included. 5k annual mileage limit. £350! And £40 of that is the drive to work.

I'm 35 and neither cars are garages either.

Last year on just the Chim it was approx £150.

I switched to AIB 127 including breakdown cover 5000 mile limit.
Its costly getting breakdown for older cars so i am a happy bunny.
Its not as quick as a modern toy, but toys should be noisy to warn of your arrival.
Have fun in your new toy.

Thanks all, Footman James looking like the best deal at the moment for the whole package inc. breakdown. A couple of places have quite openly said they wont be competitive because of my age and no prior TVR driving experience but to come back next year.

Next (possibly silly) question, should there be a key for the centre caps on the Estorils?

If you mean the original securing screws with 2 parallel slots, yes there should be! One cheeky blighter on ebay wants £60 for one! Unless they are super tight, a large flat blade screwdriver should shift them.

Many of them get replaced with stainless Allen-headed bolts (mine were!), M6 I think (?). Don't do them up too tight, you'll crack the plastic, and the the centre cover will fall off..... frown
