Seat and belts properly fitted .
99% of the parts that needed to be purchased have been purchased and the physical building of the car should be finished by mid February. Then the engine will be pulled and the rebuild done . The diary dates are beginning to be pencilled in . It has been invited to the retro meeting at Shelsley Walsh in September. If European travel is easier then meetings at Croix , Spa and Zandvoort should be possible, speedfest at Brands Hatch and some rounds of Bernie's V8s ( on road tyres ) plus CRTC thunder .
The next build is already being talked about , will involve a big V8 in either an E type or a 70s Camaro (Brut 33 colours ).

I really have nothing useful to add but just wanted you to know that I'm following this build with interest.
I'm sure many people are the same as me in that, even if we don't respond, it doesn't mean we're not taking notice.

Please keep the updates coming! cool

Assuming the Modsports gang show up at Mallory this year, please take it along. I would love to see it up close.

Peter the owner/builder of the 2cv8 found this image of a concept E type and has said this is what he would like to build very soon . He already has a 2+2 shell .

Switches , electrics and pipework has been started .
The roof panel and a super wide rear spoiler are due for delivery today .
The efforts to make it appear to have the roof rolled back continue , a digital photo vinyl printed and applied to the roof with a moulded rolled up replica roof are being investigated .
Completion and running by March is looking to be a distinct possibility.

Oil tank for the dry sump system strapped in and pipes fitted.
Fuel tank also fitted and connected.
The decision on the roof is to fit the new alloy roof and glue the canvas roof on top to resemble an original 2CV.

...but that will kill the aerodynamics! biggrin

Great project! I would love to do something like this but don’t have the skills and resources (or money) so brilliant to see someone do it and properly too.

The E type will be absolutely awesome. Keep posting... thumbup

Where are you based grumpy?
The owner/builder is based near Herne bay in Kent , I am in Deal in Kent .
We have been friends for nearly 30 years and I worked for Peter for a while .
We speak at least a couple of times each week and I do a bit of internet research for him when required.

I don't think it will slow it down much !
It could be interesting with one of the series that run on road tyres , and no aerodynamics that aren't original to a standard car !
I have been informed that the rear spoiler is 1.5mt wide !.

Ah, okay. I'm West (Sevenoaks etc).

Was hoping to have a nosy!

For a while now I've really fancied getting into this sort of work but it's not my field of expertise. Was hoping you might be nearer, or a contact to tap up! smile

Sounds like an interesting history you guys have.
All started with a very big crash he had at Lydden and I was one of the Marshalls that dealt with it , so a friendship began .

I had been warned that the rear spoiler was wide !
It gives an impression of how wide the car is overall .

The great thing about 2CV’s is you can take the seats out with no tools great picnics

If he took a bit of rake of the wing it would make a great seats four/five table

That rear will look a bit bare in the series where spoilers aren't permitted !

Rear spoiler painted .
Peter has said that it's almost time to pull the engine to build the race engine .
The electrics are all in and things come to life and turn over .
A running car by March looks to be a distinct possibility.
At the moment the car weighs in at under 600kg but still needs a floor , doors , front splitter , rear wings , boot lid and fluids .

This one is getting a bit of attention for a change . It's being given a run out.
What are the specs on this one, and where does it get raced? Be good to see it out with the JEC, even if it’s too highly modified it would still get on the grid in invitation class.

2CV is absolutely awesome, I’d be very interested in the engine specs as I’ll be commencing an RV8-engined TVR build with a view to racing soon.

The jag was racing with the JEC when it was a green xj6 , it was re-panelled with XJR wings and front and painted .
It has done a Birkett and a couple of outings at Brands and Lydden since Peter Thurston aquired it . The engine at the moment is basically a standard 4ltr N/A engine , in the future it may get a full race 4.8 ltr conversion if some proper camshafts can be found . As you know the standard cams don't let the engine breathe very well .
As for the 2CV the engine is due to be pulled out and the race conversion will be done . 4.8 conversion, heads , cam , dry sump , custom inlet and exhaust and 4 x 48 IDA type carbs .
Hopefully 420bhp in a car weighing 650kg .
The weather at the moment isn't encouraging long hours in the workshop .
