Things have been a bit slow on the build front of late . Peter the owner /builder is absolutely snowed under with work ( 9 E types among many others )
Me being in hospital for 7 days was not part of my plans either .
Thanks to Lee of FG fabrications the front roll cage can now go in .
The intake manifold is coming together , it's being fabricated in house then off to have castings made as Peter has several customers who want similar set ups on some mad V8 Land Rovers .

More done to the cage , door bars to be added . Once all the pieces are in place and welded the thing should be nice and stiff .
The list of parts still to source is surprisingly short ,basically, carbs wiring, battery , fuel cell, dry sump tank , splitter and floor and instruments.

Is it turbo'd?
I see what you did there ????
It does sound a lot for an rv8...
Many people still think that anything over 280-300bhp for a Rover V8 is really pushing it .
People are still developing these engines and 400 bhp is realistic for race engines , most are running at well over 4 ltr and 4.8 ltr is often used . They do drink fuel though . The Escort we previously raced averaged 5mpg , this was a car that weighed 875kg fully ready to fire off the line .

One exhaust manifold fabricated. Going to be shot blasted next then stove blacked and polished .
Yes it is tight for space and the RH side is worse because it has the steering column and starter motor to contend with.

With no inlet manifold of the correct height available Peter had no choice but to fabricate his own . Several customers have expressed an interest in acquiring the same so he will be having a batch cast from his fabricated version .
Very lucky to have a contact locally that can undertake the casting at reasonable cost .

This one is getting a bit of attention for a change . It's being given a run out in a couple of weeks at Lydden.
Before then it needs tyres , up to date extinguisher and new seat belts . It's not particularly quick but it handles really well and is certainly intimidating to smaller cars .
The 2CV8 is rapidly approaching the time when it will be taken apart fully welded up, have the chassis and cage all painted up and then assembled properly. We also talked of the possibility of asking a local scrutineer to come and give it the once over .

The first of the inlet manifolds ready to go to the casting foundry . Fingers crossed all goes well .
We are so lucky to have local companies that are capable and willing to do this sort of work .

Those carbs do look sexy !
A big box of bits has just arrived so all the linkages will soon be built up.
If the carbs/manifold set up works as expected then Peter plans to sell kits for the Rover V8 at a very reasonable price .

If you look closely you will notice a small gap between the bulkhead and the body , this will be filled by a seal as the body is designed to be easily removed to enable servicing .

Customers cars have gotten in the way of late .
Lotus Elan S2 convertible just reassembled after a repaint and refresh now off for a new hood ( customers daily driver)
Lotus Elan s2 hard top had a chassis refurb and being put back together with refreshed mechanics and soon to be reunited with its body .
11 E types from full restoration to engine rebuild or a competition one that needs modifications to accommodate a tall driver .
About a dozen others of various types from a fully restored DB6 to a concours Minivan .
About 25 others awaiting space in the workshops .
Work has started on mocking up a front splitter for the 2CV but lots of work , early darkness and falling temperatures don't encourage the builder to stay after the working day to play with race cars .
