The Holden is entered in the American Speedfest at Brands Hatch. It needs new springs and shocks but proper race spec ones are difficult to locate and many are of very dubious quality. The solution is to build them in house so the bits were ordered up and after machining and welding we have what we wanted .
Although the car was originally built by TWR it was very soft and handled like a boat . We are getting close to the suspension set up that we want and plan to lose as much weight out of the car as possible. Then decide which way to go with engine upgrades , possibly twin turbo

Not much to report on the race cars front . The workshop is full to capacity with customers cars so much so that work is being turned away unless it is for long standing customers. Parts suppliers are not helping with delivery times getting longer and longer .

Peter has finally got to use one of his cars in anger . All tucked in ready for the American speedfest at Brands Hatch.
He is looking just to finish each race .
Much on the car is new and unproven .
New self fabricated suspension , new paddle clutch , a home brew LS1/2/t engine and must be run on road tyres .
Say Hello if you get a chance , they are a friendly crew , Peter , Caroline , Sammy and Tom .
I am resting at home after another 9 day holiday in hospital .

A mixed weekend for the Holden .
The new paddle clutch works and a previous problem of the release bearing over travelling and sticking is now cured . The new fabricated suspension has worked and not all fallen apart , unlike the previous famous name stuff .
Practice was very damp and slippery on road tyres which the car has to run on . Unfortunately the high pressure hose on the power steering let go and sprayed fluid onto the rear tyres .
This was repaired but in the race the low pressure hose from the rack also let go after 12 laps forcing a retirement.
The power steering is a weak point on these cars , not helped by this one being LHD . Things are apparently improved by fitting a cooler to the system . It's strange that it's never had one as it was originally built for a race series in the middle east .
The development of the car is slowly getting there considering it's a road car that was converted to race in a series for amateur drivers and is still basically road legal. Oh and it needs another 100bhp !
Hopefully some work on the 2CV8 will be happening soon .

Not much progress on the race cars front.
The workshop is still swamped with customers cars ,they arrive with seemingly a minor problem that turns into a voyage of discovery of previous bodges or major engine rebuilding.
The 2CV8 now has 4 doors fitted and all painted the same colour .
The Holden had a trip down to Brighton and entertained by wheel spinning the length of the drive .
The Jag XJR racer is being prepared for the Birkett along with a customers Noble ..
I have been promised some photo evidence of some work soon .

A bit of porn !
Part of the upgrades to a customer V12 E type. One reason why work on the race cars gets delayed.

Well the Birkett was a bit of a disaster!
The team consisted of
Paul in a Noble GTO
Nathan and Luke sharing a Honda Integra R
Peter in the Jag xjr.
The Noble got hit ! Twice ! but ran faultlessly all day .
The Honda blew its headgasket late in the day .
The Jag which has been racing for 30 odd years on and off without a problem, blew its headgasket after 1 lap !
The engine had done 160000 miles so can be forgiven for crying enough . At least it will now be given a proper race engine .
With the close of the racing season you would think that the pressure would be off but it looks like the winter will be busier than ever .
The 2CV8 must be finished this winter .
The workshop is rammed with customers cars .
The Jag needs a race engine building .
The Holden Commodore needs at least 100bhp more .
A customer wants his E type converting to full FIA spec to go Historic racing .
It's going to be a busy winter !

One of the jobs that Peter has been doing is reorganisation of the workshops . This is the clean workshop with newly installed worktops ready for finishing up the clean jobs on the 2CV8 .

The next racing car project for a customer.
Going for full FIA Historic spec .
Should I do a separate build thread ?

Once work starts on the E type I shall start a new thread .
As the E is a paying job with deadlines to run to it could actually be on track before the 2CV8 .
As a taster ,the E type is a 1963 S1 roadster 3.8 LHD . It will be in its original colour of opalescent dark blue with a hard top .
