How did you get hold of Rick at Unicron mate?
Probably by email. I've been trying the phone all week. Just goes to voice mail. He's not showing as closed so maybe just really busy at the moment. Chloe normally takes the calls - give it another go. I noticed they are closed on Monday's
335d underwent the Unicorn treatment this afternoon. Ricky is a wizard and such a lovely guy to deal with. Explained that I wanted him to cap the power with a conservative map as the car is for keeping. 2.5hrs of fettling and the results are as follows 372.59 bhp and 765 nm torque. Ricky could have extracted more power but he was happy to cater to my requirements by capping the power. The car feels fantastic! Should have left the factory this way …

I won't use DS2500's again. The amount of brake dust generated was huge, i could live with that, it was the poor cold performance that was an issue for me. A spell on a cold motorway with little braking then suddenly needing to brake more firmly and just don't don't bite well, very disconcerting.
I found yellow stuffs were a nice upgrade on standard disks, for a mild upgrade with no downside these proved superb. I also fitted braided hoses and good fluid. I've fitted braided hoses to many cars now and never noticed "grabiness" mentioned above.
I fitted yellows to my e91 335i and Goodridge braided hoses. I did find this combo grabbed a little. I thought of it more as stickiness than grabbing. I like to think the pads are stickier. It was detectable but hardly a problem. I guess it depends on your level of OCD if you can tolerate this small difference. I also fitted yellows to my e61 550i. I find them less sticky on the 5 but I have not fitted the braided hoses yet. I will say the yellows are good but I am never hard on the brakes nowadays and its a bigger heavier car.
The benefits for me far out weigh any disadvantages.
Power delivery is exactly like the standard car – very progressive and OEM like. To be honest you’ll never notice the car was mapped if you’re pottering around – it spends most of its time at 10-30% throttle. At maximum load its relentless. The 2016 plate Audi S5 I mentioned in page 2 of this thread wouldn’t even know what hit it
A really important point to note is that the chassis of the car is unphased with the additional power. ACS springs and x-drive make it so capable in the wet. It should have come this way from factory!
Will monitor mpg and report back. Sitting behind a lorry on a motorway scenario between 57-60mph it’ll get 56-57mpg without much issue – just to give you an idea. Not bad for something that has 372.59 bhp and 765 nm torque. 0-60 is anywhere between 4 – 4.3 seconds, top speed limiter has been removed so anywhere between 170/180mph can be achieved on a long enough straight although the speedo will stop at 160mph so will need a GPS speedometer to record the true top speed .. not bad for a diesel wagon

The six cylinder BMW diesels are an unbelievable mix of performance and economy.
I had a mapped F30 330d. 331bhp and 500lbft but it drove exactly like OEM and at 80 on cruise would do 55mpg.
It was the perfect car but it couldn’t stop me from swapping it for a W204 C63. The C63 isn’t massively faster but my god it’s more exciting.
Uses three times more fuel

Bit late to this but to answer your original question about perfect daily then the answer is yes!
Bought a 335d F31 after a B8 RS4, long story, wanted something understated and wasn’t going to modify it.
Ended up with a Superchips remap, ACS Springs, rear muffler delete, M3 wheels and MPS4S’s and replica M Perf body kit. Brilliant car and struggled to find something to replace it with, tried M4 and Cayman’s but stuck with the 335 until I reset my performance expectations with a Mini One diesel, an even longer story.
When I get another job I’ll be on the lookout for another 335d or 340i. Tanzanite and Opal leather looks great.

Hi Pete, can I ask what your experience has been with the 335d so far? Im considering one as a next purchase.
Interested to hear your thoughts back on how the car drives now that the remap has been done, is it noticeably quicker?
Big statement but in many ways its all the car anyone could ever need the lightly fettled 335d. Perfect dad wagon Interested to hear your thoughts back on how the car drives now that the remap has been done, is it noticeably quicker?
Just ticks so many boxes. Do find yourself one with a nice spec so would advise waiting out for the right car. I made a list of must have options and originally set out to buy an F31 D3 Alpina. After months and months of searching the closest i got was the following car but it didn't have a panoramic roof which killed the deal for me ..

Special place in my heart for a w204 C63 I had a mapped F30 330d. 331bhp and 500lbft but it drove exactly like OEM and at 80 on cruise would do 55mpg.

There is something so right about them. Dream spec would be C63 PPP wagon, opal red, cream leather, black wheels, upgraded sound, pan roof. Something like this but the bread-van variant ...
Thread update
Front brake pads replaced with OEM BMW genuine pads and sensor. Parts supplied courtesy of Harry Fairbairn Kirkcaldy BMW – fantastic service and cannot be beaten on price. Pads didn’t look like they’ve ever been changed before. Here is what they look like after 39,852 miles …
Only problem is the brake disks were very well used ! Whilst the pads are bedding themselves in I can hear a horrible grinding noise - in high insight I should have changed the disks too and done the job properly. Will give it a week if the grinding noise doesn't subside I'll fit brand new OEM BMW genuine pads & disks to the front. The parts are on order and should arrive on Wednesday. If the noise subsides then i'll have an extra set of front brakes I can use in future when I need them
Whilst I was at it I completely flushed out the old washer fluid and replaced with OEM BMW genuine windscreen washer with anti-freeze.
