I wasn't expecting that. Love the X1/9 rims and wooden gearknob.

It's great to see something like this being given some love, so well done OP. thumbup

Fiat made some great cars in the 60s and 70s. I would have thought an updated 126 would make a great city car in today's climate - although I suppose a 500 Twin-air comes close!
There's a company that does electric conversions in london that have done a couple of classic fiat 500's and 126's.
They make a brilliant little car for the city, unfortunately with the larger size of the traffic they dont do too well up against modern day land barges!

When I got the car, it had a large wooden almost walking stick like gearknob that had the name vinny engraved into it, with the larger seats it didnt really work but now I've got the originals back in, I think it has to go back on!

Yours look very tidy!

As a kid I remember my Mum buying one of these (not sure whether it was brand new, but it was definitely very brown and of a similar age to yours) and us 4 up unsuccessfuly trying to get it above 50mph on the bypass. I don't think there was a lot of love for it and we didn't keep it long and it got replaced by a bright blue Renault 4!

This is one of the best things I've seen on Readers' Cars. Another great car on here a while back was a Mk1 MR2, in a very similar colour scheme.

It has some external bleb and a fair bit of interior patina, but it also has a 1765 cc Lampredi twin cam, a Weber 34 DMS, a light bit of ignition mapping, a five speed gearbox, discs all round, and Dunlop Sport Classics. It is fun.

Pah, it's OK but it's no 126.

Stop cheating BV - your car began life with 1,756cc of TC Lampredi loveliness!

It's either a typo or a rebore or two if it has 1,765cc.
