The Glorified Taxi - C5 Exclusive Tourer
Discussion
First things first. Decent matching tyres all round. I really hate cars having a mix of budget and old tyres. There was excessive tyre noise too, some of that down to the wheels being 19s no doubt, but I'm sure some down to the budget tyres.
Off with the one Alventi, the two Triangle M+S tyres and the one half decent Michelin Pilot Sport 3, and on with a set of Falken Azenis, which incidentally are the quietest tyres I could find according to reviews. Tyre noise is reduced but I still reckon it could be improved...

If it has an Aux in, just get a £5 Bluetooth USB dongle from eBay
I had the same problem in my Giulietta, now I can stream anything from the phone/iPad/etc
Great looking car!
Idiotic question time - doesn't a BT dongle kill your phone battery life on a long(ish) journey?I had the same problem in my Giulietta, now I can stream anything from the phone/iPad/etc

I'm now 8 months into C5 ownership, and very little to report. It passed its MOT in January and was serviced at the same time. Otherwise its been utterly uneventful until recently when I was met with the following message.
Modern diesel stuff
Citroen run some stuff called Eloys which is fking expensive. My reservoir was totally empty. For anyone wondering the Eloys reservoir doesn't have a float, it just knows how much was in the car when it was built and then works out how long it should last based on runtime and driving style. Typically it lasts around 80/90k. After refilling to the top, you reset the parameters using a Lexia, tell it the tank is again full, and then it should last another 80/90k. That was done today at a cost of £240ish.
Apart from that it's required absolutely nothing else. Cleans up alright too.
I might have started looking for a replacement

I've always fancied one of these. Wanting to get back in a comfy hydro-pneumatic Citroen after a year in an Alfa GT. Know what you mean re: Exclusive spec, very rare to find full leather/nav on one of these. Very interested if you decide to sell!
Top lurking. It'll probably be towards the end of the year if I do decide to sell. Will let you know if I do.
Lovely car, i may be in the market for a large estate soon, these strike me as being interesting.
How does the ride compare to say a C class?
Re the Eloys
I believe the opening of the tank is also taken into the calculation when the system is working out what is left.
Some people have been getting warnings from 35k as they were splashing and dashing on fill ups, if you brim the tank you should get the 80/90k from the tank.If you ignore the warning it will eventually go into limp mode to protect the dpf.
Dont do what I did on my Peugeot partner van- knock the tank off on rough terrain, one tank one refill one dpf later and a £1200 bill to boot.

My 508 put the Eloys message on bang on 100k. You can add the fluid - its about £45 per litre from euro's, unless the pouch is split then you need to replace it.
Mine however had a melt down and would not reset and needed a software update before the fault would clear. It was a really nice car but was changed for a Mondeo soon after.

Your C5 tourer is lovely. Been on my radar for a while, as I think these really are a good looking car. My current hack is a Citroen C4 coupe, which is fine, but an auto C5 estate would be finer. Also my mate has a C6, so I can attest to how good the suspension system is on these!
Currently on Autotrader, the second to last C5 tourer off the production line is for sale! 18k though....
I picked mine up yesterday and then drove 400km. I am totally impressed by it. The suspension is amazing. All soft and comfortable and then you hurl it round a bend at too high a speed and it just corners level and flat - maybe even leaning in to the corner. And it is so quiet and refined. Just fantastic. I shall start a thread on mine soon, rather than hijack this one.
As you may have seen, I have now moved onto another Legacy meaning my time with the C5 has ended. Link to Legacy - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I sold it to a guy I've probably known via Citroen circles for best part of 20 years. My time with the C5 has been fairly uneventful to be honest. The only thing I forgot to document in here was last August the windscreen was hit by a rock, right on the edge, which caused a massive crack from one side right into the middle. This meant it needed a new windscreen which was fitted in October time, and in doing so he didn't fit the trim at the side correctly, causing it to fall off whilst doing 80mph on the M27. It took me a few weeks to source a replacement, which I managed for £15. The replacement windscreen was £100. It also had an MOT in Jan which it passed. It has needed nothing else in this time.
Frankly, I found the car utterly dull, despite the "trick" suspension, but it fulfilled the brief of being just a car, extremely well, but I am very much done with diesel cars. The ride was worse than I expected and refinement was surprisingly poor.
Final mileage was 95k, and I think it was on 83k when I got it, so 12k over 16 months. Only costs were a set of tyres, a couple of MOT's, a windscreen and the Eloys fluid.

A shame you got rid of it. I still love mine. Maybe I'm getting old!
I think the refinement and ride are excellent, although it's unnecessarily boat-like on dead-straight roads sometimes.
