Will be tried but last year it didn't work to get it warmed up. I'm on the ITR forum but it's not very active these days!

I think when I had one there were around 7-800 in the UK, there can't be that many left now especially so i'm not surprised!

Lovely car. I had a black UK DC2 just like that about 10 years ago. Bought it for £1800 and ran it for a year then sold it for £4k.

I drove it daily into London, did track days and thrashed it lots, and it never missed a beat other burning a little oil. It wasn't the quickest thing but it was super lightweight, it sounded glorious up in the revs and handled like it was on rails. The way it put the power down on a bend was unrivalled.

I remember it performing really well in the snow too. The skinny tyres and LSD meant it could pull through some seriously deep icy sludge. Wish I never sold it.

MOT failed on emissions, which wasn't a surprise - I've had several cars that keep having this issue, it's so frustrating. There's no obvious fix - my garage enters the annoying process of seeing what works and what doesn't.

Last year a new ECU got it through no problem but this year it's back to being over on CO2 and Lambda.
I usually take mine for a long blast on the motorway before mot and never had any issues. I'm guessing yours is also not a daily so might also be best to drive it around for a few days prior to mot.

The Integra uk forum is indeed quiet but the Facebook one is quite active so might be worth checking-in there also.

Update on the MOT! Sailed through on emissions with a new manifold and cat. The exhaust has had to be modified a bit for it to fit, but the good news is that the Spoon back box has been attached up now so looking forward to hearing what it sounds like. Got to thank TGM for sorting it for me.

The manifold is now a standard UKDM one. Anyone know of a good aftermarket manifold/header that will fit on a UKDM cat?

Not quite what you want but what used to be a cheap upgrade was a 96spec or EK9 downpipe. 2.5" then though.

I'm surprised it doesn't have aircon being an X plate..

Sounds like you've had a bit of hell on with the exhaust. Going to a 2.5" system is the way though. A 200cell 2.5" sports cat isn't that dear

I'm pretty sure the exhaust manifolds are all the same length and it's the cats/B pipe that vary between JDM/EUDM

You're right that it's probably going to have to be a different cat again, most likely not an OEM as I currently have both OEM JDM and OEM UKDM cats!

The JDM one won't fit as it's too short, and the UKDM one won't fit on a non-oem header because the collector is too small.

Probably going to need a UK-length cat that's got a 2.5" collector to fit an aftermarket manifold. Expensive stuff this.

Correct.

JDM cars have 12” 2.5 inch bore cat & longer b-pipe
UKDM cars have 17” ~2inch bore cat & a shorter b-pipe.

Have a full JDM 98system on my UK car now

Hi Chris, recognise you from the ITR forum! I'd like a 98spec header ideally too but they're rare, I've not seen any on ebay for ages.

Yeah pretty rare nowadays.

Long term I’d definitely look for a JDM 2.5” manifold of some type.

You can then use the JDM cat. Obviously you’ll have to mod the cat with 5” extension to mate to your UK B-pipe but worth it as the UK header is so poor!

That's a good idea, I guess you can just chop the rear flange off the JDM cat, weld in a length of pipe and then put the flange back on. Reckon that's the most cost-effective solution.

the JDM manifold is a simple upgrade that helps release 10bhp~ i did the same on my UKDM and it was a great upgrade. I believe i picked up a good used conditioned 96 JDM manifold for £80, the UKDM manifold can be sold for about 40~

its a no brainer really

as for the cat you can get adjustable length sports cats and decats for reasonable money (2.5" --> 2.25")

I too had exhausts drama last year at service/MOT.

Car (UKDM) needed new exhausts (it had original unit, 130k miles), so bought Skunk2 from Tegiwa, but they had to be modified (lengthened?) by my mechanic in order to fit my car (with JDM manifold & cat).

Also had issues with the headlights adjustment (height), IIRC the mechanism rusted.

That was a big bill frown

Edit to add, JDM manifold and cat are big money now! I think the previous owner bought the manifold for £250, and I bought a couple of JDM cats over the years for £85 ish each. Last time I looked they’re being sold for £200+

That’s what I’d get done.

Plenty of options out there for decent JDM headers. I think the Tegiwa is a Toda copy- however I refuse to have anything Tegiwa near my car as I don’t rate the company or quality of it’s products.

Skunk2?

Used oem would be most cost effective, the whole purpose of the upgrade is to go from 2.25 to 2.5”. You should only pay more if you want something shiny under the hood

Tegiwa Toda copy is what it was failing the MOT on. Says it all really - was on the car when I bought it.

I must say I do like a nice stainless header just for the looks in the engine bay. I'll keep an eye on ebay for a decent brand.

In fairness the manifold is only a lump of metal so a duff cat will have been your issue with emissions

It was running rich so I think it may have been an issue with the O2 sensor thread (sensor was replaced but issue remained), or maybe a leak somewhere. The JDM cat was new last year and passed it.

Very strange- have never liked Tegiwa stuff however!
