Hi Ash
MSVT SuperCup, we are at Silverstone on August 15th if that counts as south for you?
Thanks, I might try and get to Sliverstone then, if not I notice the series will be at Brands in November, so may pop there too, if your Cayman will be there (I'm aware that not all competitors in many series get to all races).MSVT SuperCup, we are at Silverstone on August 15th if that counts as south for you?
So not too many car changes since Cadwell but this weekend we are out with a different club!
BRSCC are running a one-off endurance race at Snetterton ahead of what they hope will be a full series or championship next year. It’s a similar format to 750 Enduro that I’ve competed in before, a 100 minute race with two mandatory three minute pitstops and refuelling as required.
The classes go from 150 right up to 350bhp/ton so there should be a big mix of kit out there and we are sat round about the middle of it all.
I was hoping for wet weather as always, it looks like most of the rain will be tomorrow but we could get lucky and have a shower during the race to spice things up
Should be good to get out in a different paddock, race is due to start at 4.45 on Saturday with live timing - https://www.tsl-timing.com/event/213031
They do live stream a lot of their races as well, I can’t see any info on that at the moment but if it is on there will be a link on the BRSCC home page - https://brscc.co.uk/

Well that went rather well. There were two power/weight classes above us but nobody had entered the highest class so we had three cars in the class above us and three more in our class to compete against.
I had no idea what to expect from quali, I knew a couple of the guys in our class were experienced pedalers but that’s about all so I was surprised to find myself on the front row alongside a car from the higher class, all be it over a second off their pace but a couple of seconds clear of the cars behind!
The race was a rolling start so no opportunity to do my rocketship standing start unfortunately and I dropped a place off the line into turn one but made two back up at turn two which put me in the lead for a few laps until the Lotus that had started on pole managed to get past again and slowly gapped me by a few seconds.
It was a 100 minute race which had two mandatory three minute pitstops so we planned to do them as late as possible in the pit window (20-80mins) so we could take advantage if there was any safety cars or rain etc. In the end it was a totally clean race and as we competed the second stop I went back on track with 20 minutes left to run and found the Lotus about 5 seconds behind me in my mirrors .
I figured they must have had slightly long pitstops as ours were about right, (below 3 minutes attracts a stop-go penalty but anything over 3m is a waste so accuracy matters on the timing) but I also knew they were ultimately faster than me so although the class win looked secure I was at risk of losing the overall win which from a lower class would be a great result.
10 minutes of “quali laps” followed and I was keeping the gap acceptable but then got balked by traffic that cost me some time and the Lotus was within 1s of me but then he had a turn to be unlucky with a backmarker which pushed the gap back out to a couple of seconds and I kept the gap and took the flag .
There was coverage on YouTube so if anyone fancies a look we’re the last race of the day on here -

The start looks ok and the last 20 minutes of the race is worth a watch, just avoid the interview afterwards

Thanks, and yes! An overall win from a lower class is a great feeling.
We are definitely getting more on top of the car now and while the grid wasn’t huge on Saturday the Lotus was a tough thing to beat.
We are back out with SuperCup in two weeks at Silverstone which I’m sure will be a very competitive race so we’ll see if I’m getting any closer to the front there .

Well done on the win!
What was your power to weight for that race? I'm not surprised there weren't many in the higher categories, there can't be too many cars that powerful about.

We are still pretty heavy so 270/ton was the class max (flywheel v car without driver).
The Lotus may have had slightly less power but weighing in at just over a ton instead of our porky 1340kg.
So last weekend’s race was a lively one!
There was about 50 cars on the grid and I managed to quali in 5th place. Got a good run off the line so was leading into turn 1 but before getting to turn 2 red flags were out .
Three cars had come together at the start line and ended up in the pitwall so I led the train back round and because we were the last race of the day we were re-gridded to our starting order and restarted under safety car to save time. This meant no lightning starts but there was some good battling for a few laps then the SC came out again just as I passed the pit entry. This meant some of the cars behind were able to pit under safety car and gain a load of time but the leading pack all had to pit under normal running.
The race was shortened to fit the curfew and I crossed the line 2nd in class and 5th overall behind a couple of lower class cars that had (quite rightly) taken advantage of the opportunity to pit under SC conditions.
In some ways a scrappy race but pace is still improving, the cars I was struggling against earlier in the season are now within sight and we’ve podiumed on the last three outings .
Next scheduled race is with 750 Motor Club at Oulton in their Enduro Championship. I’m currently on the reserve list but hoping they will be able to get me in which would mean we’ve been out with three different clubs in our first year.

Back at it again we have got the entry confirmed for 750 Club Enduro at Oulton on Oct 9th. It’s a live streamed 2 hour race with one fuel stop and for this one I’m sharing the car with a mate so we’ll see how we can make that all work.
We went to Oulton this week for a trackday because Paul had only done a few laps in the car previously so we figured it would be wise to get his eye in. It was also a chance to see how the car has progressed over the season as I tested it out there in April. It was a busy event so lots of traffic all day but the car went perfectly and the data shows that pace was almost 2s/lap faster than in April which tallys up about right with how things have progressed on the race days.
This will be the first race with 750mc in this car so to make sure we are compliant with the power to weight regs I was straight off to the dyno the next day for an official power run.
Tegiwa are the sponsors of Club Enduro and are quite local to me so they are the ideal choice to get the numbers but it turned out the numbers were a bit different to what I expected.
The map we’ve been running all year is looking about 20 brake down on what I expected and I already knew we were overweight for our class in MSV SuperCup so it turns out I wasn’t far off correct for the class below! I’m looking on the bright side for this though as it means we got two podiums despite some notable handicaps!
The map we need to use to get the right power/weight ratio for Club Enduro is doing the opposite however and running slightly higher than I was expecting so we are trying to get a tweak done to it this week and failing that I’ll have to add a bit of weight to get it correct.
So still plenty to do over the next week or two but I can’t wait to get back out with the club I’ve done most of my previous racing with .
