Anyone else notice this? 100tce petrol engine, feels like kangaroo petrol when cold? Sometimes worse than others, warm running no problem.

I've had a rare stutter when the engine is cold and it switches to LPG and then if I put my foot down, occasionally it reverts to back to petrol for a second with a little isolated jolt, but other than that, nothing which could be described as kangaroo petrol.

If you could post up some good photos of the new filter when it comes, including any marking on it, I do internet detective work to see if there is a cross reference to something more easily available. The gas system is Landi Renzo I think, so hopefully it is just a Dacia/Renault part no. Stuck on one of their commonly available filters.
The part number is 169196566R. I had a cursory glance in the engine bay the other day and couldn't see anything obvious in terms of location. When my mate services it, I'll ask him where it is and take pictures.

My wife's car has the older 900cc engine and I find it hard to drive smoothly when cold. The on/off boost transition is like a knife edge, builds up super quickly and then backing off just a little looses it all. Once it's warmed up fully it's absolutely fine.

I find the 900 in my Logan Stepway is having a go a pogoing when cold, especially in the cooler months, no issues after a couple of minutes. Otherwise its a surprisingly smooth little engine with more pull than I imagined it would. Best not to have it in eco mode when cold I've found

the pogo when cold is a "feature" of a lot of modern petrol engines as they're really pushing fueling levels to meet emissions.

Definitely not specific to the 1.0 tce100 renault lumps

Yes I wondered feels like fueling, almost like a manual choke car.

I've not experienced many of these low capacity turbo engines to compare, but it does make sense. Certainly doesn't put me off having another. Jogger or Bigster scratchchin

Mine switches to LPG in under a minute first thing each day and I think it runs better on LPG.

Isn’t it used in Merc A class?
160hp in the Merc too.

If I can find a reputable remapper who knows these engines I'd be tempted to do it. I wouldn't want just a ECU flash though.

My LPG filter arrived yesterday. Its diameter is 35mm, height 20mm. Dinky little thing it is.

How much was that and where does it go?

It was about £21 all in from Poland. Coincidentally, the one I ordered from the dealer (£23) arrived as well. I don't know, you wait a month for a gas filter and then two turn up at once...

As for where it goes, I haven't the foggiest. I had a quick look in the engine bay to see if anything jumped out at me and it didn't. I don't remember seeing anything obvious when I took off the undertray to do an interim oil service, but then I wasn't really looking for it.

The car is getting serviced in two weeks' time so I shall report back on its location then.

Thankyou for that
I guess I could specify the facelift?

Lpg, is there an app etc which reliably shows Lpg stations?, google is giving me conflicting info! Wondered if it was worth getting one.

Mylpg.eu is the app I use, works well. LPG has worked out well for me as I don’t seem to have much trouble finding stations. It is possible to find yourself in a black spit area where there is little supply though. It all depends on where you live and where you drive to. My thought when purchasing the car was that I was getting the 1.0tce engine anyway, the lpg is a no cost option, if it doesn’t work out I can just run it on petrol like a normal car anyway so nothing to lose.

Thanks for the app
I’m in a bit of a blind spot, but a couple en-route to places I go regularly.

For anyone that's interested we've just returned from a 2000 mile 3 week trip to France. 4 up with 4 bikes and the Duster did a great job. It seems to have loosened up nicely and was happy at European motorway speeds and up and down mountain passes. We returned just under 40mpg which I was pleasantly surprised with. Having the bikes on the tow bar makes a big difference to progress and mpg.

It appears to be the modern day 2cv in France with everyone seemingly in on the act, didn't take long to give up the Duster spotting. One region we were in had the most appalling road surfaces and I'm still blown away with how it just soaks up the lumps and bumps.

Niggles wise I hadn't realised it was a UK only map loaded to sat nav, not sure how easy it is to get Europe installed.

Now ready for service 2 to be booked in . . . .
