Fiesta ST stage 3 build
Discussion
I’ll follow along, I’ve just bought an ST with the Mountune MP215 kit. I’ll agree they are brilliant little cars, I’ve not been able to properly drive it yet because the weather has been crap but it’s still been epic fun. Can’t wait for the roads to be not cold and greasy.
Plans for mine are to keep it stage 1 (for now) and maybe look at fitting an lsd.
I’ll be interested to see how you get on fitting the sports cat, I wouldn’t mind having one of those and a milltek cat back.

Yeah same here, bought my ST late October and with lockdowns and bad weather it has led to me not being able to drive the car as much as I want. The only driving I've been doing is to a school I work at which I get to by using the motorway so not really had the chance to see what it really does feel like on a mountain road etcPlans for mine are to keep it stage 1 (for now) and maybe look at fitting an lsd.

Sadly I own an M140 and my advice is to give up and just buy an M140
Chris
Haha, Chris trust me, if I could I would : ) an m140i is a dream car for me, would definitely love to own one. I just think the RWD and 3 litre six pot is not going to be ever used in a hatchback ever again and they're such good cars for the moneyChris

And then spend thousands trying to get it to handle anywhere near as well as the fiesta does as standard.
The fiesta will be perfect with 300bhp.
Yeah I believe a car such as the M140i will be quite a bit heavier so may not feel as nimble as something like an ST. To me, even in standard form the ST feels like it's got more than enough power for everyday use, but I do agree that an ST with 300bhp will be decent. The fiesta will be perfect with 300bhp.

Genuine question, does Mountune alone count as stage 1? I appreciate all tuners have opinions on this, I'm just curious.Plans for mine are to keep it stage 1 (for now) and maybe look at fitting an lsd.

I'll let Terry answer this one as he has it on his car but yeah I think it counts as a stage 1. Only difference is, mountune tunes do not affect your warranty ( providing you still have a car with warranty). Stage 2 modifications will be your typical upgraded exhaust, intercooler and induction kit.Eta so its a new airbox, filter and map right?

When I bought a new Fiesta ST and was considering the Mountune uprate, it didn't increase my insurance quote. I think that may have changed since.
That's actually quite interesting that it didn't increase the quote. Lucky for me I live in quite a decent area so insurance shouldn't go up too much when I start modifying mineYeah I think it counts as stage 1 - airbox and remap.
I’ve not driven a standard st so I can’t compare the Mountune to it, but mine goes really well.
Very eager to rev and you get some nice subtle sounds from the airbox and turbo.
It did cost me extra to insure though over a standard one, had a bit of a game with it.

I'm currently in contact with a local tuning company. They've agreed to fit my exhaust, and fit an intercooler of my choice. Reason for this they have to map the car when a sports cat goes on so may as well do a stage 2 map while it's there. Didn't expect to be going stage 2 this early but when the January sales are able to get me an R-sport intercooler for £380 I can't turn that down

Half tempted to buy one for myself and mod the tits off it, awesome motor if you dont have to do mega miles,
Not far to your nearest MacyD's? .i think if the OP goes from his SFT t an M140i he will wonder what he has done, the BMW is better in a lot of ways and is nice to drive but Ford is so much more of a drivers car, standard vs standard.

Hi, I've just always liked the look and sound of an M135i/M140i. The entire package just appeals to me somehow. But, the proof is in the pudding and I'll need to drive one i think if the OP goes from his SFT t an M140i he will wonder what he has done, the BMW is better in a lot of ways and is nice to drive but Ford is so much more of a drivers car, standard vs standard.

Hey Dave, how you doing? Looking forward to seeing the car, sounds like it’ll be a ripper. You just need Dad to pull his finger out with the RS now (keep telling him, think seeing my Saab blowing up put him off)
Is the steering nicer than the the non ST models?
I had an ecoboost ST-Line hire car recently, brand new, and it was one of the worst cars I've driven in terms of steering. Way, way too sensitive and sod all feedback.
Admittedly, I do think It needed the geo looked at, but that wouldn't solve the aspect of over-assistance.

Have you taken a look at Sabre Tuning yet Dylan? (just over the bridge in Chippenham)https://m.facebook.com/sabretuning/
He’s really really good, well worth a call.
Also called Aura Tuning, done a load of V6 Saab’s now and getting excellent results. I’ll be taking my next one there and take it straight back to stage 5 in one hit
