Using the correct font, how about "unpopular" or "unpopular plus"?

IIRC we all wanted DCNF webers (down draughts) to make the bulkhead clearance easier
Bonnet clearance is a problem with the zetec. It has been done but it's more compromised than the sides.

What I really need is a set of afla 90 Deg velocity stacks

I can't track the fiesta font down? Any leads

Up till gone 12 rebuilding the carbs out in the freezing garage. Completely lost track of time. They look great now. I've sorted out the linkage that was catching slightly. Flipped the TPS and drilled the linkage mounts so you can get to all the screws.

Just waiting on 25mm velocity stacks, 1/8th NTP tap and carb tune pro as my existing synctool won't fit between the card inlet and the firewall.

Still need to get the full pedal stroke. it's super close hopefully bend the stop abit. And the choke cable is to short, however the cable is unique to the fiesta choke pull. I can probably live with out it, but be nice to do it right.

No luck on the font, you have the "u", maybe just turn a "u" upside down to make an "n"?

Fantastic thread and the car looks great, especially on the refurbed wheels. I'm local and have a 205 GTi with similar upgrades (2.0 16v on Jenvey 45s) so will look out for you on the local b roads smile

This lot might be able to help you out with the font or maybe make a one-off. They certainly have the fiesta popular plus one:

Making the original logo I can do no dramas, I want the font as I wanted to play with some different wording. The logo will predate electronic fonts so unless it's been made.

Alright had fun afternoon.

Got the car running yesterday on the 45s it was set way out. No way the '1.8' there supposedly set for would have ran properly. Super rich progression, and them mega lean main circuit.

I don't have any jets emulation tubes or correctors yet. I've also got no clue what I'm doing but figured hell it's so far out I'll see what I can do.

After messing on Google. And looking at a few guides. I came up with this setup.

Choke 37
Main 150
Emulsion 7772.5
Air corrector 195
Idle 50
Idle holder 7850.1
Pump 40

This is how there set now.
Choke 37mm
main 110
Emulsion 7772.5
Air corrector 170
Idle 50
Idle holder 7850.8
Pump jet 40

My logic

The idle circuit is super rich needed 2 turns out to idle and was still rich. However the 50 idle jets are at the leaner end of what the guides suggest for 2000c engines. So that leads me to the idle holders, they emulsife fuel with the air. The 7850.8 holder is one of the richest with only 4 X 0.5 mm holes.

The .1s that I've picked are one of the leaner ones. handily the power tuning book mentions that they have 1 X 1.4mm hole in them. So approx there 1.5 orifice area.

This is where Ive gone hog wild and got the power tools out.

I drilled one of the holes out to 1.0mm this gives me a total area of 1.3ish with the 3 other 0.5 holes (I did do the exact maths this morning, but too much wine now)

This was an immediate improvement, with me needing a more normal 3-4 turns out.

I also drilled the mains out to 1.5mm as this is the drill size I had. There was some science. Couple of guides mention that 4x the chokes is a start point for the mains. So 37 X 4 is 148. So 50 is the closest.

The cars now drivable and safe on the afr's it's still about rich in the progrssion faze. Good old Amazon should deliver some more drill bits tomorrow. So my plan is to make the opposite idle holder hole 0.65mm this gives me 1.51 of area. Verses the target 1.53.
If it's still rich I will look to open out the air correctors to delay the main circuit.

It sounds soooo good

Yes indeed, just updated it: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I'm in Southampton, so not me. Mine's standard looking in sorrento (i.e. very dark) green.

Great stuff with the carbs, can't beat that old school noise. Get a video sorted once you're up and running smile

Really like the car OP, there's something about that shape, those arches and that stance that looks just right.

Getting there with the tune. Got a couple of flatspots in the extremes of the setup. Eg low rpm wrong gear.

Here's a little 3rd gear pull, dosnt do the sound justice.

I've just seen this and it looks well put together, the Zetec looks home in the Mk2's engine bay.

I'm looking forward to seeing the carbs on the engine, will you still look at going injection?

the carbs are on, and its driving pretty good. still needs tom airey's magic touch.

yes injection may be on the cards, but I could justify the cost at the moment. approx 3k for the ecu, loom and ITB's i wanted and the supporting fueling upgrades.

so far the DHLA's have cost me £400 ish, and I've sold the bike carbs for £450. work paid for the postage too so it all profit biggrin

I have still got to pay for the final tuning. but that was on the cars for the bike carbs anyway.

and the Quaife is on back order with the factory. cant wait to get that fitted as its going to transform the launch and corner exits.
