Gave my vRS 245 an oil change a little under 2000 miles ago. Has used about 200 ml of oil since.

Yeah so mine is using a little more that but most of what I’m reading online seems to indicate that it’s not unusually so I guess I’ll just keep topping up.

I guess having owned the Alfa and still owning a classic Mini, the symptom of constant oil replacement is not a new phenomenon. I just need to remember that in the Skoda’s case it’s not because it’s marking it territory on the driveway…

My vRS 245 doesn’t use any oil. It’s only at 33k / 4 years old though. I have it since new and driven it enthusiastically from the start.

I’ve only skipped through the thread, but saw you mentioned a pos. remap and 300bhp when you got it. Mine had a revo stage 1 remap just over a year ago, the day the warranty ended! I recently had it dyno’d and it has 317bhp, so yours may not be far off

Oil use is a funny one, I think a lot of manufacturers say up to a litre per 1,000 miles is within tolerance. My diesel as I said before used a litre every 8k or so.

Are the TSI engines prone to leaks at all? VAG engines aren’t my speciality, I’m more used to BMW engines with are generally allergic to keeping oil inside them….

The EA888 engines of that time have a pretty shocking reputation for oil use.
I had a 2.0 A4 which used far too much for me to live with.
Shame as they are very economical and can be mapped easily.

One thing I’ve realised over the last 18 months is that while I am a fan of how the wheels look, I’m really not a fan of the low profile tyres around them. Muddy campsites are not the Octavia’s friend.

Not sure how I escaped without a puncture…

(Although the frankly massive boot was right handy for kipping in when the weather turned!)

So finally got accident damage number 3 repaired at the front and they tided up accident damage number 2 while they were at it. Very neat job I reckon. The chrome grill surround was also damaged so got them to fit the black one I had kicking around instead.

Much better to my eye than the chrome although I’m sure some will disagree.
