Many thanks, the chrome/black strip was putting me off these as I absolutely hate the strip and new S K O D A badge,

Currently retrofitting the £600 oem flat-bottom sport heated steering wheel which I found a great ebay bargain on, looks good, feels GREAT to drive with, and importantly contains the 'view' multifunction wheel button that I need to do the 'virtual cockpit' retrofit in future

but.. the existing clock spring only has the main connector which allows for airbag and multifunction buttons, it doesn't have the secondary connector needed to power the heated wheel

luckily I've found the required version at a german breakers, and it should be here soon..

So I sit scratching my head looking at the wiring diagrams to figure out how to rewire the car to accept this replacement clock spring (annoyingly, the heated wheel version clockspring has 14 pins instead of 16, and it's a different connector, pins moved around etc. Typical!)

Meanwhile making a start on the tv tuner retrofit, well at least the easy bits of it, and taking some photos as I go to help guide any future retrofitters

I'd be tempted with a heated wheel on my L&K but I don't really want the flat wheel now! I also never knew that box under the seat was the TV tuner.

Yeah, on the drivers side (assuming RHD car) it's the TV tuner, under passenger seat it's the canton amplifier (if fitted)

Having read this last night, I started idly browsing AT for a 280 and for the age/spec/size they offer staggering vfm. Definitely be taking a close look at one come new car time. Love the fact that you can just raid the VW parts bin for extra stuff too.

bought a dragy

didnt have time to set anything up properly, but wanted to give it a go, semi-wet conditions, I spose I can do better with some practice etc, right tyre pressure, right tyres , right road conditions, right temps etc. It showed quarter mile time as 12.5

Yeah, remapped. Apparantly a gearbox remap on the dq250 can shave half a second off the 0-60 on this too according to another owner who did it, I'll get it done by my local tvs dealer and find out.

Nothing to add other than I love these and have always fancied one, but I've just had an uber ride and the ride comfort was shocking frown I thought the whole point was for them to be comfortable? I can't complain about the rear legroom, mind.

I went with superchips, even though I know these days brands like Revo and APR are in vogue
P. S. This car can also win the fridge challenge, taking a 668x664x1855mm box in a sedan

They are very comfortable, your Uber was perhaps high mileage and in need of a suspension refurb

4.5 to 60 in a comfortable under the radar car is epic OP

Make that 4.18 as of today, partly due to better road conditions, adjusting tyre pressures and partly due to me using the 'industry standard' measure of 0-60 this time, which doesn't include the first foot. Did 3 runs this time before having mercy on the clutches

Interesting, pretty cheap too.

I was looking at Celtic Tuning as they give you a two-week money-back guarantee so I thought I would try it (and take it to my favourite Surrey-based rolling road!) before deciding to keep it or not.

Removed the "mib2 columbus" headunit in glove box and screen in order to update it to the latest "mib2.5" columbus/high version with the bigger 9.2 screen

£600 for a used screen and headunit.

I'm mostly doing this as a prerequisite to show maps on the virtual cockpit when I retrofit that in future.

Used vcds hardware/software kit to take a scan ("admap") of all the settings from the old MIB2 so I could do a scan of the new unit after fitting and compare to get it set up the same, since there are hundreds of settings.

Updated maps to 2021, updated firmware, hacked it with mib toolbox and removed component protection and enabled video in motion

Enjoying this thread, car looks good!

I didn't realise you could code start/stop out! Is this in long coding? Can you still switch it back on with the button? I find it useful sometimes, but mostly have it switched off.

The trick is to change the voltage its set to kick in at

Module 19, there's an adaptation called start/stop start value limit which is set by default to 7.6, so if battery below 7.6 volts it won't kick in. I set it to 12 volts and it never kicks in (max setting is 12.1)

Today fitted rear boot lip spoiler and rear windscreen spoiler

@AIVal been a while since you updated this.

Do you still have the car? What else have you done?
Would be interested to know how the virtual cockpit retrofit went, if you did it!
