Hi everyone,

My current car lease runs out in a couple of weeks and after having a Golf R and a BMW M140i previously I want to take a step up in performance so I am looking to purchase something with 400+bhp for around the 35k mark. It needs 4 seats (rear isofox) but could be a coupe and ideally not too old.

I am keen to avoid a big hit in depreciation over the next 3 years and although whatever I get won’t be cheap to run I don’t want to be spending out for big bills all the time! I would love to get some advice from anyone that has experience.

I have been looking at BMW M2 comps recently but have looked at everything from c63’s to M3/4’s to Alfa Guilia QF’s

All help and advice very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance

A 2017 Guilia QF is in budget. 510 hp, gorgeous car. And different.

You say not too old but not too much depreciation. Unfortunately the two tend to be mutually exclusive.

If you drop down to 2014-16 you're at a slightly flatter part of the curve depreciation wise.RS7 RS6 C63 and M4 come into the equation.

I'd take a good look at the Lexus RC-F they're a car that get's under your skin with plenty of poke you can get one at the lower end of the depreciation curve:

With the BMW's I'd go for the M3 Competition as they're rarer (& IMO the best looking) & they're depreciating slower:

The Giulia's are holding their money well it's just the dealers that are patchy & can spoil the experience:
