Can't quite remember the years, but I think I was still in my Saxo VTR in 2010, a 98 1.8 Mx5 followed, then a TD5 Discover 2 for a very short period of time. Next was my Ep3 civic type R which was replaced with an impreza wrx wagon. That was being used as a tow car for motocross so I replaced it with a transit for a few years, then from that to a clio 172 cup, then the family cars started. Volvo V50 2.0d was first and I think the Skoda Superb that replaced it was bought in early 2020, just out the window to be included.
Well. If the noughties were the wilderness years then the 2010s were at least in terms of numbers the fallow years. With the Colt Di-D plodding its way up to 120k there wasn't much point in a change:
Then, a new job in 2012 with a much reduced commute and a pay rise it was time for a treat. And to hell with reliability:
My Alfa Romeo GT 2.0 JTS on the day I picked it up. And obviously being Italian and an Alfa it was totally reliable. I kept this until early last year when with the writing on the internal combustion engine wall I decided I needed something with more cylinders, more engine capacity, fewer seats and rear wheel drive. But that's a story for another decade.
I did have a couple of other cars in the 2010s - both hand me downs that allowed me to dote on the Alfa a little. Firstly (another!) Colt. This time a very bottomest of the range 1.1 C1 that my mum donated to me when my father passed away:
I know I could have just posted the same picture again, but that would be cheating. I kept the Colt for another 4 years and added 30k miles (that meant I didn't add to the Alfa). Finally and just squeezing into the 2010s, another hand me down. This time from my partner's father:
A Skoda 'surprisingly ok really'. The Fabia 1.2 HTP SE. Pensioner Edition. In Denim. That's right a pensioner in denim. My life.

One car owned for the whole of the decade.
Bought in 2009 at 2½ years old, still have it now on 123,000 miles.
Was joined by a little Up! in about 2016 but the Touran has taken us, trailer tent, hired caravan, and 4 bikes all over, and has only given problems on 2 campsites!
Dropped a gearbox bearing in Swanage 3-4 years back and an alternator in Cornwall 2019.

Without a doubt my worst decade for car ownership.
A succession of very capable but ultimately boring diesel exec company cars (E60 530D, F10 530D, W212 E250, C7 A6 3.0) due to covering massive miles and working ridiculous hours.
Finally jumped of the CC bandwagon in 2019 and got a Tesla Model 3 Performance as my usage had changed and after the wife had an i3 for 12 months fancied giving an EV a go myself. Very happy with it so far and the obvious drop in build/materials from what I am used to really doesn't bother me as much as I thought it might and not bored of the performance after 12+ months with it.
Other commitments meant no opportunity for a weekend plaything but hopefully will be remedying that in the next 12 months with something noisy, thirsty and utterly impractical.

Well, the '10s get quite simple. Arrival of two kids earlier in the decade, followed up with ever increasing school fees has meant my car history this decade is somewhat lacking...
10 to 11 - BMW 120D
11 to 15 - BMW 320D 'Efficient Dynamics' (Company car)
14 to Nov 20 - Mercedes E-Class estate (bought, as company scheme didn't stretch to an 'E') - Not replaced due to lockdown and the fact that it had grown moss in several places.
14 onwards - Boxster 987S for some fun.

I discovered shedding in 2011 and the rest as they say is history.
A decade of cheap sheds for me:
'04 Clio 182 (sold in 2010)
'95 Hyundai Avante (owned in Korea)
'03 Matiz Auto (also owned in Korea)
'09 Jazz 1.4
'06 Micra 1.2

'06 Jazz 1.4 Auto
'10 Nissan Pixo

You must surely win the most miserable 2010 car owning period. You know a shed doesn't have to be this way?I discovered shedding in 2011 and the rest as they say is history.
