I’ll update in due course. I’ve found with B8s before that the fronts give a huge increase in ride quality due to the internal bump stops.
Would you say that the best combination for ride quality while retaining decent handling is B8 dampers combined with SE springs (and of course proper pneumatic tyres)? I've read that Alpina use something along these lines in their E9x range. The biggest problem with M-sport models as standard seems to be that they are under damped and over sprung, so I'm wondering whether softening the springs will improve things after the damping has been sorted. And of course ditch the RFTs at the earliest opportunity.

You may be right, but I’ve gone for new M Sport springs to keep the standard ride height as SE springs would raise it. B6s are the ones for SE springs. Love these! really is all the car you'd ever need, just out of interest do you mind if i ask how much you paid? looking at getting a new daily smoker and these tick all the boxes
I paid less than the cheapest LCI 335d on eBay. I paid £4,700 for mine - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
The tourings hold their value better than the E90/E92 (for obvious reasons) - the E92 especially looks good value at sub-£4k.
Lovely choice, great colour too. I've had my 2011 LCI E91 335d (silver) for nearly 7 years now. Thought of changing if a couple times but it really ticks a lot of boxes.
It's amazing how few you see around. I waited a good while for one to come available. Compared to how relatively common the f31 335d has become.
Regarding the range of prices, there seems to be a big step change pre/post LCI, with the LCI models demanding quite a stronger price.

I found the same re pricing and scarcity. A wanted a standard one too. It's amazing how few you see around. I waited a good while for one to come available. Compared to how relatively common the f31 335d has become.

Great choice! This is mine, still enjoying the living daylights out of it even though it's "only" a 330d - certainly "every car you'll ever need" imho.
Weirdly my favourite thing is the double-bubble sunroof, besides the ability to surprise a lot of people with the go factor
Enjoy!

It won’t get extensive modifications like the E46
Quoted for posterity.Great looking cars. E46 is the newest 3 series I've owned and mine was a dog. Had a couple of drives in the E91 and found it to be a very comfortable and appropriately rapid car with the right engine.
