Put the 18s back on for autumn too. It could be worse. I could have a Jaguar.

I’ve done some diagnosis. Cleared all codes. Road test, re read codes.

No dpf code. Air mass and charge pressure codes came back. Air mass meter is new. On road test I heard a loud whooshing noise. Not a PH parrot. Suspecting a boost leak I used live data to monitor boost pressure. I have a 335d non turbo. When it stops leaking I’ll play hunt the leak.

Intercooler is new. All vacuum hoses apart from I think the engine mount ones are new, red boost hose is new. Inlet manifold is new. There’s not much left to leak!

That's annoying! I think anyone who has owned a BMW made in the last 20 years has seen the reduced power message. I'm sure you'll get to the source of the problem quickly enough.

MAP sensor popped out. I remembered that when I changed the manifold the sensor grommet split at the end. I shortened it to make it fit and ordered a new one. I forgot to fit it. The cars been fine for quite a while with the old part. Until yesterday.

New part:

Manifold:

As I dislike my car going wrong I’ve ordered a gen. BMW glow plug controller. I’ve still got a gen. thermos and wp to fit too.

Glad to get it sorted. It’s my own fault for forgetting to fit the new part!

New glow plug module on today. Gen. BMW as no one seems to have the Beru one available. It took an hour with the manifold on to change. No DDE fault codes left:

Oil change today. It’s not due (10k/1yr intervals) for 2k. That would be January. January is cold. Today the sun was shining and the weather was sweet. Thanks Bob.
30 mins and it’s done. BMW official service schedule for the car is pollen filter every oil change. I used to do this but the pollen filter was always clean. I’ve amended my schedule to pollen filter change at 2yrs/20k miles.

I still do the pollen filter every service, and engine air filter every other. The crap plastic fixings of the pollen filter housing annoy me, but they’re no worse than E46/39 spring clips that don’t clip in anymore. I’m also on the 10k/year interval too, although I’ve never made it a year on a daily car. smile

I agree about the pollen filter housing. I glued plastic into the cover bolt holes and then re drilled them.

It’s remarkably cheap to do an oil change on these. 5l of oil and a filter are under £40. (Appreciate it takes nearer 7l):

I’ve also filled up the original service book so have a new one:

How many stamps? I’ve just filled up the book for mine with the last service, snd there’s 30 stamps (including PDI). Lots of stamps for brakes, vehicle check et al is annoying, and fills up the book with rubbish. Of those 30 stamps, 18 are oil changes and 12 are the other bits.

Do you have a dealership stamp helix?

I service my cars myself and always put the details of oil used etc but there seems to be a stigma when "DIY" servicing is done, even though I (and am sure many on here) do a much better job than any dealer.

I made my own stamp many years ago. It has part of my name in it. I know what you mean about diy servicing. When it comes to sell I have a very large receipt folder and a written service history record. I was a BMW Tech. I’d hope this and the documented history will be enough for any potential buyers.

I keep all receipts too and detail exactly what was done, but ended up selling my car via motorway and they didn't want the history as it was as far as they were concerned, only "partial" as they don't include DIY. If anyone has my old 530i I have a heap of history for it lol.

I write in the book and sign it too, and keep receipts. Buyers have always been happy with that, and if they aren’t so be it. I’ve never struggled to sell any of my old heaps. smile

More cost cutting for the facelift! From 30 down to 27 stamps. hehe

The lack of book and all iDrive on newer cars annoys me too, as a purveyor of middle aged onwards cars.

Sunday Service at Thruxton today. I was the first car there! There was a large selection of cars including a few I’ve seen at various meets before and on threads here.
It was very cold and damp. I felt a bit odd at a meet with a dirty car. However I wasn’t prepared to clean my car in sub zero temps to drive on a rainy day. Adam C was filming so any fellow attendees may find themselves on YouTube. A fine breakfast bap was had. I paid for the track walk but skipped it as it was too damp and cold and meant waiting for an hour. The money goes to charity anyway. There was a unique E91 330d (pictured). Also a few other E9x models including an old man spec 335iSE E91 with a different colour interior. It was in great condition.

Both front door inner handles have peeling outer plastic. This reminded me of an old Golf. BMW only sell complete door trim panels to cure this.

Instead I bought Chinese replacements, handle only. They work a treat and are simple plastic rather than plastic with a coating. I did the n/s/f today,

Just got the driver’s one to do now. I’m still on my Cross Climates. They are horrible. Noisy, poor grip, floaty at speed and poor turn in. I hope it snows and they are good in the snow.
